{"id":127034,"date":"2014-07-01T01:29:18","date_gmt":"2014-07-01T01:29:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/rinf.com\/alt-news\/?p=127034"},"modified":"2014-07-01T01:29:18","modified_gmt":"2014-07-01T01:29:18","slug":"andy-coulson-face-retrial-bribery-allegations","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/rinf.com\/alt-news\/media-news\/andy-coulson-face-retrial-bribery-allegations\/","title":{"rendered":"Andy Coulson To Face Retrial Over Bribery Allegations"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"p1\">DAVID CAMERON\u2019S former adviser Andy Coulson was told yesterday he was to face retrial for misconduct in public office after allegedly bribing policemen for information.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The one-time editor of the disgraced News of the World (NotW) newspaper Mr Coulson is in court awaiting sentencing after the jury found him guilty of plotting to hack phones between 2000 and 2006.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The jury at the Old Bailey could not decide last week whether Mr Coulson was liable for paying police officers for royal directories.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">But the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) announced yesterday that it will seek further prosecution.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u201cThe CPS has taken the position to proceed with the retrial,\u201d said prosecution leader Andrew Edis QC.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Campaigners saw the decision as an opportunity to unveil the true scale of the hacking scandal.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u201cCorruption in British policing has been endemic for many decades,\u201d said civil liberties group JusticeNow director Michael Doherty.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.morningstaronline.co.uk\/a-0308-Andy-Coulson-to-face-retrial-over-bribery-allegations\/#.U7IPCvldUk0\" target=\"_blank\">Read more<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>DAVID CAMERON\u2019S former adviser Andy Coulson was told yesterday he was to face retrial for misconduct in public office after allegedly bribing policemen for information.
