{"id":110655,"date":"2014-03-31T23:14:00","date_gmt":"2014-03-31T23:14:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/rinf.com\/alt-news\/?p=110655"},"modified":"2014-03-31T23:14:00","modified_gmt":"2014-03-31T23:14:00","slug":"kissing-zionist-ring-sheldon-adelson-considers-buy-next-election","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/rinf.com\/alt-news\/breaking-news\/kissing-zionist-ring-sheldon-adelson-considers-buy-next-election\/","title":{"rendered":"Kissing the Zionist Ring: Sheldon Adelson Considers Who To Buy for the Next Election"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Abby Zimet\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/rinf.com\">RINF Alternative News<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This weekend&#8217;s most skeevy spectacle featured an unseemly parade of GOP presidential hopefuls\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.politico.com\/story\/2014\/03\/sheldon-adelson-las-vegas-2016-elections-republicans-105192.html\"><strong>trooping\u00a0<\/strong><\/a>out to Las Vegas to scrape, bow and pander before 80-year-old Israel lover, crackpot kingmaker and casino gazillionnaire Sheldon Adelson &#8211; $40 billion and counting &#8211; at a Republican Jewish conference just cringingly crass enough for a Robert Altman movie.<\/p>\n<p>Amidst much Vegas glitz, Jeb Bush, Rand Paul, Chris Christie, John Kasich, Scott Walker and others came to genuflect before Adelson, who in the last election dumped over $20 million into a super PAC for Newt Gingrich, reportedly spent even more on Romney and praised Mike Huckabee as \u201ca great person, a great American and a great Zionist.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>More recently, in Israel, he\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.jta.org\/2014\/03\/31\/news-opinion\/israel-middle-east\/sheldon-adelson-approved-to-buy-israeli-newspaper-website\"><strong>bought\u00a0<\/strong><\/a>a right-wing website and paper deemed &#8220;the mouthpiece of one man &#8211; the prime minister,&#8221; and\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.timesofisrael.com\/a-start-up-school-for-the-start-up-nation\/\"><strong>started<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0a school for entrepreneurship. How low did the lowly supplicants have to go?<\/p>\n<p>This low: Chris Christie had to do humble penance for telling a story in which he inadvertently referred to the Occupied Territories as &#8220;the Occupied Territories&#8221; &#8211; as\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.balloon-juice.com\/2014\/03\/30\/baby-did-a-bad-bad-thing\/\"><strong>dubbed\u00a0<\/strong><\/a>by one observer, &#8220;Baby did a bad bad thing&#8221; &#8211; for which crime he spent much of the weekend furiously<a href=\"http:\/\/www.jta.org\/2014\/03\/30\/news-opinion\/politics\/gov-christie-apologizes-to-adelson-over-occupied-territories-reference\"><strong>\u00a0backpedalling<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0and clarifying he was &#8220;an unwavering friend and committed supporter of Israel, and was sorry for any confusion that came across as a result of the misstatement,&#8221; an act of obeisance that put to shame Scott Walker&#8217;s modest move of telling Adelson how he puts up a menorah every holiday season.
