{"id":105709,"date":"2014-01-14T10:14:19","date_gmt":"2014-01-14T10:14:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/rinf.com\/alt-news\/breaking-news\/nsa-abjectly-violated-constitution\/"},"modified":"2014-01-14T10:14:19","modified_gmt":"2014-01-14T10:14:19","slug":"nsa-abjectly-violated-constitution","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/rinf.com\/alt-news\/breaking-news\/nsa-abjectly-violated-constitution\/","title":{"rendered":"NSA \u2018abjectly\u2019 violated Constitution"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p><strong>An American journalist and commentator says the National Security Agency has \u00c5\u201cabjectly\u201d violated the US Constitution and should be \u00c5\u201creined\u201d by authorities. <\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>\u00c5\u201cSpying on United States citizens is forbidden by the Constitution,\u201d said Mike Harris, a Phoenix-based editor with Veterans Today, in a phone interview with Press TV on Monday. \u00c5\u201cThe NSA is abjectly in violation of the US Constitution.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Harris urged the government to \u00c5\u201creform\u201d the NSA in a way that Americans can be \u00c5\u201csafe and secure\u201d because the agency is abusing its power. \u00c5\u201cPower corrupts,\u201d he warned. <\/p>\n<p>The journalist warned against possible consequences of the agency\u00e2\u201e\u00a2s snooping, saying \u00c5\u201cif they have the ability to read everyone\u00e2\u201e\u00a2s emails and other correspondence, then the contention for them to glean information\u201d will allow them \u00c5\u201cto blackmail\u201d individuals or \u00c5\u201cforce decisions that are not in the best interest of the American public.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>President Obama is under pressure from all sides to announce major reforms to the NSA.<\/p>\n<p>Privacy and civil liberties groups as well as lawmakers on the left have urged for a wholesale termination of much of the government\u00e2\u201e\u00a2s snooping.
