As any website owner will tell you by now, if you want to get to the top of search engines, you’re going to have to get links to your site. Yes, I know that links aren’t everything and while there are good links, as well as bad, I wanted to give you 8 ways to gain legit links back to your website that will hopefully not only gain exposure for your site, but increase your positions as well.
#1 Create something of value — In today’s Internet age, people are addicted to Twitter, as well as Facebook. If you think about how you use Facebook, you don’t “like” things that are spammy or non-informative, do you? Think on the user that will “like” your work. Be creative, take your time with posts / articles, and trust me, it pays off.
#2 Spend money on press releases — Press releases can help you out tremendously, but there are a few things to keep in mind. For starters, you will want a professional to help you with this. Yes, they will cost you a pretty penny, but you will get a great ROI. Also, you will want to make sure that you’re promoting something of value.
#3 Join HARO — HARO (helpareporter.com) is a great resource to help bloggers connect with major publications such as the New York Times and more. Reporters will ask for people to help them with an assignment and 9 times out of 10, they will give you a plug.
#4 Guest post — Services such as MyBlogGuest and BloggerLinkUp are both fantastic resources when it comes down to connecting with other people in the marketing atmosphere. Here, you can write articles for other people. In exchange, they will give you a link back to your site. You will want to make sure that you write something very informative.
#5 High traffic directories — Again, you will have to spend some money but directories such as BestofWeb, Yahoo!, and more all give you decent traffic, as well as links. Also, submit your site to DMOZ and if you get accepted here, you can get massive exposure!
#6 Give away items to bloggers — If your site revolves around a particular item, contact around 25-50 bloggers and offer them a free item. You would be amazed at how well this works. Just ask in exchange that they review it on their blog. I’ve had a huge success rate with this one.
#7 Blog Carnivals — The way blog carnivals work is that you submit your best work to other blogs that are looking for a particular topic. This is a great way to get links to posts within your site. A great place to start is BlogCarnival.com to find bloggers that are looking for your work. This is 100% free.
#8 Forums — You’ve probably heard this one before, but it does work wonders. The kicker is to ensure that you’re adding something of value. If people trust you and you offer good advice, they are more than likely to click your links.
Gaining back links won’t happen overnight and as long as you take your time, you take time to find them, you will find out that down the road that they will pay off tremendously! Use a few of these 8 tips above and hopefully, you can gather up some great links to your site!
