[غردون] قد قال بني هو يؤيّد يقلّد فرقة جيش أرقام في العراق غير أنّ لم يثبت "جدول المواعيد اصطناعيّة" أثناء محادثات مع زعيمات عراقيّة.

التقى الرئيس وزراء أيضا كبريات [أوس] مسؤولات أثناء مفاجأة زيارة إلى البلد, أمام بيان أسبوع تالية على بريطانيا تورط هناك.

هو قال "جعلت تقدم ضخمة" تلقّى يكون في العراق مؤخّرا ويدفع جزية إلى ال "رجوعيّة" من قوات [أوك].

في العراق أن يقدّم ال [أوك] أهداف هناك, قال سيد [بروون] أيضا عنف كان قد سقط.

طار سيد [بروون] داخل بغداد في يوم السّبت لمحادثات مع رئيس وزراء عراقيّة [نووري] [مليكي], رئيس جلال [تلبني] وزعيمات عسكريّة.

هو أيضا التقى [أوس] جنرال عسكريّة رئيسيّة دايفيد [بتريوس] و [أوس] سفيرة [رن] [كروكر].

هو طار فوق إلى البصرة حيث هو يكون واجبة إلى لقاء قوات بريطانيّة ومراجعات تقدم في إعادة إنشاء مشاريع.

كان الرئيس وزراء [أوك] يقال هناك أربعة أهداف رئيسيّة هو أراد أن يرى يلتقي في العراق, بما في ذلك التدريب من محلّية جيش وشرطة والأرض مستأجرة من إنتخابات محلّية.

عنف `تقدم'

يشطر خطط أن فرقة جيش [أوك] أرقام إلى 2,500 بنابض كانوا يؤخّر واجبة إلى عنف في البصرة في النهاية مارس - آذار.

قلّلت أرقام تلقّى يكون من 5,000 إلى 4,000 بين أكتوبر - تشرين الأوّل 2007 وأبريل - نيسان مبكّرة.

قد قال قادة عسكريّة هم يتوقّعون أرقام أن يكون أبعد قلّدت أثناء 2009, قال ال [بّك] جيم [موير] في بغداد.

قال يتكلّم بعد اجتماعاته مع عراقيّة زعيمات سيد [بروون]: "هو بالتّأكيد نيتنا أنّ يقلّل نحن فرقة جيش أرقام, غير أنّ أنا لا أذهب أن يعطي جدول المواعيد اصطناعيّة [أت ث مومنت]."

سيد [مليكي] متحمّسة أن يحصل إنسحاب جدول المواعيد [إين بلس] قبل ال [أوس] إنتخابات رئاسيّة في نوفمبر - تشرين الثّاني.

في الوقت نفسه ليبراليّة ديموقراطية زعيمة [كلّ ون] شقّ [كلغّ] سيد [بروون] أن ينسحب قوات بريطانيّة في العراق جنوبيّة ووضعت أكثر داخل ال "بدرجة متزايدة يصعب شغل" من يتنازع [تلبن] في أفغانستان جنوبيّة.

في مؤتمر صحفيّ سيد قال [بروون] الرقم من حادثات عنيفة كان قد قلّد بشكل مثير بما أنّ هو كان متأخّرة في العراق ديسمبر - كانون الأوّل, يسقط من ستّة حادثات عنيفة [ا] يوم إلى واحدة كلّ ستّة أيام.

"جعلت تقدم ضخمة يتلقّى يكون," هو قال.

“It’s important to recognise that security, prosperity, local democracy - these are the things that we are trying to move forward and trying to achieve.”

He added: “I am very grateful for the way the British forces behaved in such an exemplary manner. Their professionalism, and their courage, and their dedication is very much part of the progress that has happened.”

 

Mr Brown - whose visit was not announced in advance for security reasons - spent just under an hour in talks with Mr Maliki, then with his advisers. He then spent 20 minutes with Mr Talabani at the presidential palace.

In his last visit in December he announced the official handover of Basra to Iraqi authorities.

This week Iraq and the US called for an agreement on a “general time horizon” for the withdrawal of US troops.

‘Basra another Dubai’

The UN mandate covering foreign troops in Iraq expires at the end of the year.

The US is negotiating a new bi-lateral agreement to cover their continuing presence, and Britain will have to do the same, said Jim Muir.

He said Mr Brown would also be talking to Mr Talabani about the “broader relationship” between the UK and Iraq, with a focus on getting more investment and jobs into the country.

When asked if Britain was motivated by its need for Iraq’s oil, our correspondent said Iraq was “awash” with money from increasing oil revenue.

“The British a looking to play a big development role down in the south… and they are very much encouraging foreign firms to come in and invest, not just in oil but in other projects.

“The British commander down there is talking about Basra being another Dubai in 10 or 20 years down the line, and so there’s huge potential and obviously Britain wants to be part of that effort and obviously to help profit from it as well.”

Mr Brown said he had agreed to hold further talks with Mr Maliki in the autumn.
