Australia became the latest member of the US-led coalition to pull combat soldiers from Iraq, fulfilling an election promise that helped sweep Prime Minister Kevin Rudd to power in November. استراليا اصبحت احدث عضو من التحالف التى تقودها الولايات المتحدة لمكافحة سحب الجنود من العراق ، والوفاء للانتخابات التي ساعدت في الاجتياح وعد رئيس الوزراء كيفن Rudd الى السلطة في تشرين الثاني / نوفمبر.
Opposition has been growing in Iraq to the proposed security pact with the US, which will replace the current UN mandate and could provide for a long-term American military role in this country. ولقد تزايد المعارضة في العراق المقترحة لميثاق الامن مع الولايات المتحدة ، الذى سيحل محل ولاية الامم المتحدة الحالية ويمكن ان يوفر الموارد اللازمة لتمويل طويلة الاجل الدور العسكري الاميركي في هذا البلد.
Much of the opposition comes from anti-American Shiite cleric Muqtada al-Sadr, but statements critical of the deal have also been issued by mainstream Sunni and Shiite figures who fear it will undermine Iraqi sovereignty. الكثير من يأتي من المعارضة المناهضه لأميركا رجل الدين الشيعي مقتدي الصدر ، ولكن تصريحات حاسمة من الصفقة ، كما تم اصدار تعميم من قبل الشخصيات الشيعيه والسنيه من الخوف وسوف تقوض السياده العراقية.
Chief government spokesman Ali al-Dabbagh said the Iraqi negotiators have a “vision and a draft that is different” from the Americans but that the talks, which began in March, were still in an early stage. وصرح الناطق باسم رئيس الحكومة علي الصعيدي ودباغ وقال المفاوضون العراقي "رؤية ومشروعا مختلفا" من الاميركيين ولكن ان المحادثات ، التي بدأت في اذار / مارس ، كانت لا تزال في مرحلة مبكره.
“There is great emphasis by the Iraqi government on fully preserving the sovereignty of Iraq in its lands, skies, waters and its internal and external relations,” al-Dabbagh said. US officials have refused to comment on the talks until they are complete but have insisted they are not seeking permanent bases. وقد رفض المسؤولون الامريكيون التعليق على المحادثات حتى يتم اكمال ولكنها أصرت على انها لا تسعى الى قواعد دائمة. President Bush and Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki said they were hoping to finish the negotiations by July to allow time for the Iraqi parliament to sign off on the deal. الرئيس بوش ورئيس الوزراء العراقى نوري المالكي قالوا انهم كانوا يأملون في الانتهاء من المفاوضات بحلول تموز / يوليه لاتاحة الوقت للالبرلمان العراقي للتوقيع على من الصفقة.
But Iraqi officials said last month that talks were unlikely to wrap up by July because of wide differences over several issues, including immunity enjoyed by US troops from prosecution in Iraqi courts and rules governing US military operations. ولكن المسؤولين العراقيين في الشهر الماضي وقال ان المباحثات كانت من غير المحتمل ان بتلخيص بحلول تموز / يوليه على نطاق واسع بسبب الخلافات حول العديد من القضايا ، بما فيها الحصانة التي تتمتع بها قوات الولايات المتحدة من الملاحقه القضاءيه في المحاكم العراقية والقواعد التي تحكم العمليات العسكرية الامريكية.
In recent weeks, Iraqi forces have taken the lead in operations against Al-Qaida in Iraq and other Sunni militants in the northern city of Mosul and against Shiite militias in southern Basra and in the Shiite district of Sadr City in Baghdad. في الاسابيع الاخيرة ، قامت القوات العراقية بدور قيادي في العمليات ضد تنظيم القاعده في العراق وغيره من المناضلين السنيه في شمال مدينة الموصل وضد الميليشيات الشيعيه في جنوب البصرة والشيعه في حي مدينة الصدر فى بغداد.
But the government appears to be following a policy of negotiating with militants — a strategy that calmed the situation in the three cities but probably enabled some hardliners to slip away to fight another day. ولكن يبدو ان الحكومة باتباع سياسة من التفاوض مع المسلحين -- استراتيجية أن هدأت الحاله في المدن الثلاث ولكن ربما مكن بعض المتشددين لتفلت من ايدينا للقتال في يوم آخر.
During a press conference Sunday, Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari, a Kurd, spoke out in favor of the US-Iraq security agreement, saying Iraq’s forces still needed the support of the US-led coalition. وخلال مؤتمر صحفى الاحد ، وزير الخارجية هوشيار زيباري ، وهو كردي ، وتكلم في صالح العراق بين الولايات المتحدة الاتفاق الامني ، قائلا : القوات العراقية لا تزال بحاجة الى دعم من التحالف التى تقودها الولايات المتحدة.

The Australians had “successfully accomplished their mission” and their contributions “assisted in the stabilization and development of Iraq,” US military spokesman Col. Elsewhere in the capital, a senior police official was wounded and a traffic cop was killed when a bomb stuck to the official’s car exploded in a busy intersection. وفي اماكن اخرى في العاصمة ، وهو من كبار ضباط الشرطة وأصيب المرور مؤتمر الاطراف قتل في انفجار قنبلة تمسك إلى المسؤول وانفجرت السياره فى تقاطع مزدحم.
Two civilians also were killed in separate roadside bombs Sunday near Baqouba, northeast of Baghdad. ايضا اثنين من المدنيين قتلوا في فصل عبوات ناسفة بالقرب من baqouba الاحد ، شمال شرق بغداد. A policeman and a civilian were injured when a roadside bomb targeted a police patrol in Mosul, an official of the provincial operations center said. وشرطى ومدنى بجروح عندما قنبلة على جانب احدى الطرق مستهدفة دورية للشرطة في الموصل ، اعلن مسؤول في المقاطعه وقال مركز العمليات.
The violence was reported by officials who spoke on condition of anonymity because they weren’t authorized to release the information. العنف وابلغت المسؤولين من تكلم على شرط عدم ذكر اسمه لانها لم تكن اذن بالافراج عن المعلومات.
Two US soldiers were injured when their helicopter crashed Sunday south of Baghdad, the military said. اثنين من الجنود الامريكيين اصيبوا بجروح عندما تحطمت طائرة هليكوبتر جنوب بغداد الاحد ، وقال العسكري.
