The Shia “martyrs” of this hill village are normally killed in the dangerous, stony landscape of southern Lebanon, in Israeli air raids or invasions or attacks from the sea. الشيعه "الشهداء" من هذا التل قرية عادة قتل في الخطوره ، الحجريه المناظر الطبيعيه من جنوب لبنان ، في غارات جوية اسرائيلية او غزوات او هجمات من البحر. The Hizbollah duly honours them. حزب الله شرف لهم حسب الاصول. But the body of the latest Shia fighter to be buried here – from the local Hashem family – was flown back to Lebanon last month from Iran. ولكن على جثة اخر الشيعيه المقاتله ليدفن هنا -- من أسرة هاشم المحلية -- وقد نقل جوا الى لبنان في الشهر الماضي من ايران.

He was hailed as a martyr in the village Husseiniya mosque but the Hizbollah would say no more. كان يوصفون بأنهم شهيدا في قرية husseiniya المسجد ولكن حزب الله ان اقول لا اكثر. For when a Lebanese is killed in live firing exercises in the Islamic Republic, his death brings almost as many questions as mourners. عندما لبناني يقتل في تدريبات اطلاق النار في العيش في الجمهورية الاسلامية ، وفاته تقريبا كما يجلب الكثير من الاسءله على النحو المشيعين. Yet it is an open secret south of the Litani river that thousands of young men have been leaving their villages for military training in Iran. ولكن ليس سرا جنوب نهر الليطاني ان الالاف من الشبان وقد ترك قراهم للتدريب العسكري في ايران. Up to 300 men are taken to Beirut en route to Tehran each month and the operation has been running since November of 2006; in all, as many as 4,500 Hizbollah members have been sent for three-month sessions of live-fire ammunition and rocket exercises to create a nucleus of Iranian-trained guerrillas for the “next” Israeli-Hizbollah war. يصل الى 300 من الرجال اخذت طريقها الى بيروت الى طهران في كل شهر وكانت العملية الجاريه منذ تشرين الثاني / نوفمبر من عام 2006 ؛ فى جميع ، كما العديد من اعضاء حزب الله 4500 كما تم ارسال لمدة ثلاثة اشهر دورات بالذخيره الحيه والصواريخ والذخائر التدريبات لخلق نواة للتدريب المغاوير - الايرانيه ل"القادم" الحرب الاسرائيلية - حزب الله.

Whether this frightening conflict takes place will depend on President Bush’s behaviour. اذا كان هذا الصراع المخيف يحدث سيعتمد على سلوك الرئيس بوش. If America – or its proxy, Israel – bombs Iran, the response is likely to be swift and will come from the deep underground bunkers that the Hizbollah has been building in the fields and beside the roadways east and south of Jezzine. اذا كانت امريكا -- او بالوكاله ، واسرائيل -- قنابل ايران ، وكان رد الفعل المحتمل ان تكون سريعه وسوف تأتي من اعماق الأرض المستودعات ان حزب الله تم بناء في الميادين والطرق الى جانب الشرق والجنوب من جزين.

For months, Sayed Hassan Nasrallah, the Hizbollah leader, has been warning Israel that his organisation has a “surprise” new weapon in its armoury and there are few in Lebanon who do not suspect that this is a new Iranian-developed ground-to-air missile – rockets which may at last challenge Israel’s air supremacy over Lebanon. لأشهر ، وسيد حسن نصر الله ، زعيم حزب الله ، وقد تم تحذير اسرائيل ان منظمته له "مفاجاه" جديدة فى ترسانة للاسلحه النووية وهناك عدد قليل في لبنان الذين لا تشك في أن هذا هو ايرانيه جديدة متطوره من الارض الى الهواء صاروخ -- الصواريخ التي في ايار / مايو الماضي تحديا لاسرائيل السياده الجوية فوق لبنان. For more than 30 years, Israel’s fighter-bombers have had the skies to themselves, losing only two aircraft – one to a primitive Palestinian SAM-7 shoulder-fired missile, the other to Syrian anti-aircraft guns – during and after its 1982 invasion. لأكثر من 30 عاما ، اسرائيل في مقاتلة - قاذفه كان لها سماء لأنفسهم ، والا تفقد طائرتين -- واحد الى بداءيه الفلسطينية سام - 7 القذائف الكتفيه ، وأخرى الى سورية ومدافع مضادة للطائرات -- اثناء وبعد اجتياح عام 1982.

After its 1980-88 war with Iraq, Iran introduced a new generation of weapons, one of which – a development of a Chinese sea-to-sea missile – almost sank an Israeli corvette in the last Hizbollah-Israeli war in 2006. 1980-88 بعد الحرب مع العراق ، ايران عرض جيل جديد من الاسلحة ، واحدة منها -- التنمية الصينية من البحر الى البحر القذائف -- تقريبا غرقت السفينة الحربيه الاسرائيلية في الماضي حزب الله - الحرب الاسرائيلية في 2006.

Can the Hizbollah shoot Israeli jets out of the sky in the event of another conflict? يمكن لحزب الله باطلاق النار على الطائرات الاسرائيلية من السماء في حالة صراع آخر؟ It is a question much discussed within the 13,000-strong United Nations force in southern Lebanon – essentially a Nato-led army, which contains French, Spanish and Italian troops as well as Chinese, Indian and sundry other contingents – which would find itself sandwiched between the two antagonists. انها مسألة نوقش كثيرا داخل 13000 - قوية لقوة الامم المتحدة في جنوب لبنان -- اساسا بقيادة منظمة حلف شمال الاطلسى الجيش ، والتي تتضمن الفرنسية والاسبانيه والايطاليه وكذلك القوات الصينية والهندية وغيرها من الوحدات المتنوعة -- الذي من شأنه ان يجد نفسه بين sandwiched الاثنين الخصوم.

There are no armed Hizbollah fighters in their area of operations – Nasrallah respects the UN resolution which placed the peacekeepers between the Israeli border and the Litani in 2006 – but the UN mission, along with its soldiers, will be gravely endangered in the event of another war. لا توجد مسلحه من مقاتلي حزب الله في مناطق عملياتها -- نصرالله يحترم قرار الامم المتحدة التي وضعت قوات حفظ السلام على الحدود بين اسرائيل والليطاني في 2006 -- ولكن بعثة الامم المتحدة ، جنبا الى جنب مع الجنود ، وسيكون شديد للخطر في حال اخر الحرب.

If its aircraft could no longer bomb at will over Lebanon without fear of being destroyed, would Israel stage another costly land invasion – highly unlikely after the bloodying its troops took in 2006 – or use its own ground-to-ground missiles on Lebanon? اذا طائراتها لم يعد بامكان قنبلة في لبنان سيكون أكثر من دون خوف من تدمير ، من شأنه ان اسرائيل مرحلة اخرى مكلفه الاراضي الغزو -- المستبعد جدا بعد الادماء قواتها اتخذ في 2006 -- او استخدام خاصة بها ارض ارض الصواريخ على لبنان؟ For if the latter option were chosen, it would bring a whole new dimension to Lebanon’s repeated wars. من اجل هذا الخيار الاخير اذا اختيروا ، فانه يحقق برمتها بعدا جديدا الى لبنان الحروب المتكررة. Long-range missiles have proved hopelessly inaccurate in Middle East conflicts and the Iran-Iraq war. صواريخ بعيدة المدى قد اثبتت بشكل يائس غير دقيقة الصراعات في الشرق الاوسط والحرب بين ايران والعراق. But whatever political sins they still commit, the Lebanese – despite their current crisis – appear to have rejected any return to civil war. ولكن مهما كانت الخطايا السياسية التي لا تزال ترتكب ، اللبنانيه -- على الرغم من ازمتها الراهنة -- يبدو انه قد رفض اي العودة الى الحرب الاهليه. In such a war, no one could repeat the old lies about “pinpoint accuracy”. في هذه الحرب ، لا يمكن لأحد ان اكرر القديم افتراءاتها على "تحديد دقة".

The government of Fouad Siniora may be trapped in its own “Green Zone” in central Beirut – it even refused to attend the Arab League summit in Damascus – and parliament is suspended after 17 vain sessions to elect a president. حكومة فؤاد السنيورة قد تكون حبيسه في تصرفها "المنطقة الخضراء" في وسط بيروت -- حتى انها رفضت حضور مؤتمر قمة جامعة الدول العربية في دمشق -- وعلق البرلمان بعد 17 عبثا دورات لانتخاب الرئيس. A series of prominent Lebanese MPs and journalists have been murdered or attacked since 2005 but Syrian troops have left and the Lebanese army still manages to keep a form of order on the streets. سلسلة من لبناني بارز النواب والصحفيين قد قتلوا او هاجم منذ 2005 ولكن القوات السورية وتركوا الجيش اللبناني ما زال يدير الابقاء على شكل من أشكال النظام على الشوارع. However, the Syrian intelligence presence has been maintained in Lebanon – and Syria is Iran’s only ally in the Arab world. ومع ذلك ، فان وجود الاستخبارات السورية وقد ابقى في لبنان -- وسوريا هي الحليف الوحيد لايران في العالم العربي. This does not mean that war is inevitable. وهذا لا يعني ان الحرب امر لا مفر منه.

So the future of Lebanon remains – as it did in 2006 – in the hands of the United States and Iran. ذلك ان مستقبل لبنان لا يزال -- كما فعلت في 2006 -- في ايدي الولايات المتحدة وايران. Just as the Israelis constantly warn of war, so the Hizbollah still promises revenge for the car-bomb murder of its former intelligence officer Imad Mougnieh in Damascus in February. مثلما الاسرائيليون باستمرار تحذر من الحرب ، ولذلك فان حزب الله لا يزال وعود الانتقام لسيارة مفخخة مقتل ضابط المخابرات السابق عماد mougnieh في دمشق في شباط / فبراير. Regularly, the Israelis warn that they will respond to attacks but that they will “choose the moment and the place and the means”. بانتظام ، والاسرائيليون يحذرون من انها لن تستجيب لهجمات الا انها سوف "اختيار اللحظة والمكان والوسيلة".

And sure enough – following the Hizbollah’s pattern of using Israel’s own words – Nasrallah said on 24 March that the Hizbollah would “choose the moment and the place and the means” to retaliate for Mougnieh’s death. والمؤكد ان -- عقب لحزب الله باستخدام نمط من اسرائيل نفسها بعباره -- قال نصر الله في 24 اذار / مارس ان حزب الله من شأنه ان "اختيار اللحظة والمكان والوسيلة" بالانتقام لmougnieh فاة.

And each month, the Hizballoh improves its new bunkers north of the Litani. وكل شهر ، hizballoh يحسن دورته الجديدة الملاجئ المحصنه شمال الليطاني. Some now sprout aerials but they may be “dummies” for Israel’s pilots to attack. بعض الهوائيات برعم الآن ولكنها قد تكون "الدمى" لاسرائيل لمهاجمة الطيارين. Deep underground telephone land-lines have been laid to those which are visible and to those others which are beneath the surface. أعماق تحت الارض - خطوط الهاتف قد زرعت على تلك التي يمكن رؤيتها وآخرون الى تلك التي هي تحت السطح. The Hizbollah learned a lot from the 2006 war. حزب الله تعلمت الكثير من حرب 2006. Then its secret bunkers were air-conditioned with beds and kitchens attached. ثم عن مخابئ سرية كانت مكيفة الهواء مع اسرة ومطابخ المرفقه. But when Israeli troops discovered a handful of them, they also found copies of their own Israeli air force reconnaissance photographs, complete with Hebrew markings. ولكن عندما اكتشفت القوات الاسرائيلية حفنة منهم ، كما انها وجدت نسخ خاصة بهم في سلاح الجو الاسرائيلي الاستطلاع صور ، الكامل مع علامات العبرية.

The Hizbollah had obviously bribed or blackmailed Israeli border guards for the pictures – from which they could tell at once which bunkers the Israelis had identified and which remained unknown to them. ومن الواضح ان حزب الله قد رشوة او ابتزاز الاسرائيلي وحرس الحدود للصور -- من الذي يمكن ان تتحقق في وقت والملاجئ المحصنه التي قد حدد الاسرائيليون والتي لا يزال مجهولا لهم.

Which is how, in 2006, its guerrillas sat safely through days of air bombardment in the latter, while allowing the Israelis to blitz the “known” fortresses to their hearts’ content. وهو كيف ، في عام 2006 ، المغاوير بأمان خلال أيام السبت من القصف الجوي في الأخير ، بينما يسمح للاسرائيليين ان الغاره "المعروف" الى حصون قلوبهم 'المحتوى.
