George Tenet, the former director of the CIA, has criticised the US invasion of Iraq, saying that officials supporting the war did not hold a “serious debate” about whether Saddam Hussein was a threat. جورج تينيت ، المدير السابق للوكالة المخابرات المركزية ، وقد انتقدت الغزو الامريكى للعراق ، قائلا ان المسئولين تدعم الحرب التي لم تعقد "مناقشة جادة" حول ما اذا كان صدام حسين يشكل تهديدا.
Tenet, writing in a new book, singled out Dick Cheney, the US vice-president, as leading the rush to war, The New York Times reported on Friday. تينيت ، في كتابة كتاب جديد ، وأفرد ديك تشينى ، نائب الرئيس الامريكى ، كما تؤدي الى الاندفاع نحو الحرب ، وافادت صحيفة نيويورك تايمز يوم الجمعة.
The newspaper obtained a copy of the book, At the Centre of the Storm, ahead of its Monday release and described its contents in a new article posted online Thursday night. الصحيفة حصلت على نسخة من الكتاب ، في قلب العاصفة ، قبل الافراج عن الاثنين ووصف محتوياته في مادة جديدة نشرت على الانترنت ليلة يوم الخميس.
“There was never a serious debate that I know of within the administration about the imminence of the Iraqi threat,” Tenet wrote, according to the newspapers. "كان هناك ابدا اي نقاش جدي وانا اعرف ان من داخل الادارة عن قرب على التهديد العراقي ،" كتب تينيت ، واستنادا الى الصحف.
He also said that there was never “a significant discussion” about ways to contain any threat posed by Saddam Hussein without invading. وقال ايضا انه كان هناك قط "كبير مناقشة" عن سبل لاحتواء أي تهديد الذي يشكله صدام حسين من دون غزو.

Tenet also wrote that he thought that the violence in Iraq was continuing to spiral out of control. وكتب ايضا ان تينيت قال انه يعتقد ان العنف في العراق هو استمرار لتخرج عن نطاق السيطرة.
“My fear is that sectarian violence in Iraq has taken on a life of its own and that US forces are becoming more and more irrelevant to the management of that violence,” he wrote. "خوفي هو ان العنف الطائفي في العراق قد اتخذ على حياة خاصة به وان القوات الامريكية اصبحت اكثر وأكثر صلة الى ادارة هذا العنف ،" انه كتب.
As part of a media tour to promote the book, Tenet was interviewed by the CBS news magazine 60 Minutes, in which he contended that his now-infamous phrase “slam dunk” was taken out of context. كجزء من رحلة اعلاميه لترويج الكتاب ، وكان تينيت مقابلات من قبل مجلة اخبار سى بى اس 60 دقيقة ، والذي اعتبر ان له الآن - الشائن عبارة "سلام دانك" وقد اخذت خارج سياقها.
