“All costs will be carried by the US” presumably doesn’t include
a) Geraldton and the majority of the WA population being vaporised or irradiated by Russian and Chinese (and possibly Indian and Pakistani?) ICBMs;
b) the implicit cost of the increased risk of terrorist attack our hosting the base entails;
c) the explicit cost of further increasing Australia’s domestic and international counter-terrorism measures to address such increased risks; or
d) the cost to Australians of the further encroachments on their civil liberties that will be justified as a necessary part of such counter-terrorism measures.
