Facial recognition is same as tossing coin
Monday, April 28th, 2008
Four years ago, the Home Office ran biometric enrolment trials in Glasgow, Newcastle and Leicester. The trials revealed plainly the fallibility of state-of-the-art biometric authentication. The worst performing biometric technology was facial recognition, which failed 31% of the time for able-bodied participants and a farcical 52% of the time for disabled participants. Problems were also encountered with the elderly, and the system did not cope well with changes to appearances. Meanwhile, cryptographic researchers working with NO2ID have demonstrated the ability to clone UK passport chips remotely, without even removing passports from the sealed packaging in which they are delivered to recipients. Now all that will stand between imposters with cloned passports and entry to Britain will be a flawed authentication system that performs no better than tossing a coin. The government is clearly keen to save money. There are much better savings to be made than firing the border guards at airports. There are many problems with FACIAL REGOGNITION SYSTEMS they have been proved extremely unreliable as the way they are proggramed is flawed . They basicaly work from my knowledge by taking distance between the eyes in relation to the nose on the face they then calculate the differential and effectively then make a virtual map . But there are many problems with this and are too numerous to mention here but here is just one example , if you put on a significant amount of weight then basically the measuremants that were taken in the first place will be wrong as the application cannot compensate for the changes that gaining weight has made to your features , not too mention that god forbid that you suffer any facial dissfigurments and we all know that as we get older our features change such as the nose and ears getting bigger and what happens if you grow a beard? . So you can see just some of the basic flaws . It is true that the UK is on its last legs as our economy crumbles underneath us as we have borrowed too the hilt and we are struggling with the mounting national debt , also we have thrown billions into the war in IRAQ and we have no gold reserves too fall back on as GORDON BROWN sold them at a loss . We are spirraling into reccesion due too the mismanagemant of our government and it seems that our government has lost its way , so it does not supprise me that the government will replace guards with machines as they do not need to be paid and they do not take breaks or holidays , but this puts our borders at risk and it seems to save money the government are prepaired too take that risk and to hell with the longterm results , our government in my opinion do not seem to plan or care for the longterm . Also the R.F.I.D. chip which the UK government are so keen for us too use has shown that it can be cloned with simple equipment , so there goes your personal data and it will make credit card cloning look old fashioned in comparrison . Then again that should not surpprise us as the recent dissregard from the government towards the loss of our personal data shows us of things too come . The simple answer too this is just to say : NO TOO I.D. : !!! .
