Channel 4 journalist grills Olympics organisers over human rights 4 قناة صحفى الشوايات اكثر من منظمي الالعاب الاولمبيه لحقوق الانسان
guardian.co.uk guardian.co.uk | Channel 4 News correspondent Alex Thomson used a press conference in Beijing today to repeatedly challenge Olympics organisers over China’s record on human rights. | قناة مراسل اخباري 4 أليكس تومسون يستخدم مؤتمر صحفى فى بكين اليوم ان التحدى مرارا وتكرارا على مدى منظمي الالعاب الاولمبيه فى الصين بشأن سجل حقوق الانسان.
Thomson asked a representative of the International Olympics Committee (IOC) at the press conference whether she was “in any way embarrassed” by the Chinese government “lying through its teeth” about keeping its promises to improve human rights and press freedom. طومسون وطلب ممثل للجنة الاولمبيه الدولية (لجنة المحيط الهندي) فى المؤتمر الصحفى ما اذا كان وقالت انها "باي شكل من الاشكال في حرج شديد" من جانب الحكومة الصينية "الكذب من خلال الاسنان" في الحفاظ على وعودها لتحسين حقوق الانسان وحرية الصحافة.
The Channel 4 News chief correspondent had to resist efforts from two volunteers to force the microphone from him as he continued to question the IOC’s communications director, Giselle Davies, at today’s Beijing Olympics media briefing. اخبار القناة 4 وكان مراسل ورئيس لمقاومه جهود اثنين من المتطوعين الى قوة الميكروفون من له وهو لا تزال تتساءل اللجنة الاولمبيه الدولية للمديرة الاتصالات ، giselle ديفيز ، في الالعاب الاولمبيه فى بكين اليوم الى احاطة وسائل الاعلام.
Thomson’s testy exchanges with Davies came in what was the most fractious IOC-Bocog press conference yet, with journalists repeatedly demanding to know whether a single Chinese citizen had been granted permission to use the three Protest Parks set up for the Games. طومسون حاد الطبع للتبادل مع ديفيز جاء في ما هو اكثر fractious لجنة المحيط الهندي - bocog مؤتمر صحفى بعد ، مع الصحافيين تطالب مرارا وتكرارا لمعرفة ما اذا كان مواطن صينى واحد قد منحت على اذن لاستخدام الثلاثة احتجاجا على انشاء حدائق للالعاب.
In response, a senior Chinese official for the Beijing Olympics criticised parts of the international media for coming to China “to peek, to be critical, to dig into the small details and find fault” in the country’s human rights record. وردا على ذلك ، أحد كبار الصينية الرسمية لاولمبياد بكين وانتقد من وسائل الاعلام الدولية على قدومه الى الصين "نظرة خاطفة على ، الى ان تكون حاسمة ، الى حفر في التفاصيل الصغيرة وايجاد خطأ" في البلاد في مجال حقوق الانسان.
Responding to Thomson’s initial question, Davies said: “We have to note that there have been enormous steps forward in a number of areas.” وردا على سؤال طومسون الاولى ، وقال ديفيز : "علينا ان نشير الى انه كانت هناك خطوات هاءله الى الامام في عدد من المجالات."
Thomson kept pressing, asking how the IOC felt about the “manifest failure of the Chinese government to keep their promises”. طومسون ابقاء الحاحا ، وكيف يطلب رأي اللجنة الاولمبيه الدولية عن "اظهار فشل الحكومة الصينية على الابقاء على وعودهم".
Davies again refused to directly answer the question. ديفيز مرة اخرى رفض الاجابه على السؤال مباشرة. Instead she said that the IOC was “very proud about how these Games are progressing” before praising the “spectacular venues”. وقالت انه بدلا من المجلس الدولي لزيت الزيتون "فخور جدا عن الكيفيه التي تصب في هذه الالعاب" قبل التغني "المدهش الاماكن".
“I’m not asking about how well the Games are being run, or how wonderful the Games are,” replied Thomson. "انا لا يسأل عن مدى نجاح هذه الالعاب هي التي تدار بها ، أو كيف هي راءعه هذه الالعاب" ، اجاب طومسون. “Are you embarrassed by China? Davies smiled, before again talking operational details. دافيس ابتسم ، قبل ان نتحدث مرة اخرى التفاصيل التنفيذية. “The Olympic Games is largely about the athletes and they have given us extremely strong feedback about how things are going,” she said. He said: “We’re not getting anywhere are we? وقال : "نحن لا تحصل في أي مكان نحن؟ Are the IOC embarrassed about the Chinese government’s record on human rights? اللجنة الاولمبيه الدولية هي احرجت الحكومة الصينية ازاء سجل حقوق الانسان؟ One more chance?” فرصة واحدة اخرى؟ "
Davies responded: “We have to note the enormous steps in the wider area. ورد ديفيز : "علينا ان نشير الى الخطوات الهاءله في المنطقة على نطاق أوسع. The world is watching and the IOC is appraising.” ان العالم يراقب واللجنة الاولمبيه الدولية هو تقييم ".
Wei Wang, the secretary general of the Beijing organising committee, claimed he had not been given figures from the Office of Public Security before, after a series of questions on human rights, finally allowing his frustrations to show. وانغ وي ، الامين العام للجنة بكين لتنظيم ، وادعى انه لم تعط ارقام من مكتب الامن العام من قبل ، وبعد سلسلة من الاسءله المتعلقة بحقوق الإنسان ، وأخيرا السماح له لاظهار مشاعر الاحباط.
“After 30 years of reform China has developed greatly,” he said. "بعد 30 عاما من الإصلاح طورت الصين الى حد كبير". “People enjoy more freedom. "الناس في التمتع بالمزيد من الحرية. People are living a good life. الناس الذين يعيشون حياة جيدة. Everyone is happy. ويسعد الجميع. That’sa fact. وهذا هو الواقع.
“Of course there are exceptions, like in any other country. "بالطبع هناك استثناءات ، مثل في اي بلد آخر. But they need to take the legal process and procedures to resolve any issues. ولكنها بحاجة الى اتخاذ الاجراءات القانونية والاجراءات لحل اي قضية. We cannot allow this country to be in chaos. ولا يمكننا ان نسمح لهذا ان يكون البلد في الفوضى.
“But there are a few people who have come here to peek, to be critical, to dig into the small details and find fault,” he added. "ولكن هناك عدد قليل من الناس من قد نأت الى هنا لنظرة خاطفة ، انها ذات اهمية حاسمة ، الى حفر في التفاصيل الصغيرة وايجاد خطأ". “This does not mean that we are not fulfilling our promises [over human rights to the IOC]. "وهذا لا يعني اننا لسنا على الوفاء بوعودنا [اكثر من حقوق الانسان الى اللجنة الاولمبيه الدولية]. The whole country can see how can China has developed; how China has genuinely welcomed the world to enjoy everything with us.” البلد كله يمكن أن نرى كيف يمكن ان طورت الصين ؛ كيفية الصين وقد رحب العالم حقا ان تتمتع كل شيء معنا ".
Shortly after awarding the Olympics to Beijing in 2001, the IOC president Jacques Rogge claimed he hoped that hosting the Olympics would improve China’s human rights record - but Wei today denied that his country had made any such promises. بعد فترة وجيزة من منح الى الالعاب الاولمبيه في بكين عام 2001 ، رئيس اللجنة الاولمبيه الدولية جاك روغ وادعى اعرب عن امله في ان تستضيف الصين الالعاب الاولمبيه من شأنه تحسين سجل حقوق الانسان -- ولكن اليوم وى نفى ان تكون بلاده قد قدمت اي من هذه الوعود.
“I did not promise that China would promise to do whatever with the Games in China, I did not say that,” he said. "اننى لم اعد بان الصين سوف الوعد على القيام بكل ما في هذه الألعاب مع الصين ، وانا لم اقل ذلك". “I think the Games will open up the horizon about China. "اعتقد ان الالعاب سوف تفتح الافق عن الصين. People will see better what China is about.” وسيري الناس على نحو أفضل عن ما هو الصين. "
