Brussel om Uw Privé Details aan de V.S. weg te ondertekenen

The Times | De Amerikaanse overheid zal grotere toegang tot privé informatie zoals creditcardtransacties, Internet het doorbladeren gewoonten en reisgeschiedenissen van mensen in Groot-Brittannië onder een overeenkomst die kunnen verkrijgen door de ambtenaren van de Europese Unie wordt gebeëindigd. Een intern rapport dat aan de New York Times wordt gelekt zei gisteren de EU op de rand van het overeenkomen om van de V.S.- wetshandhaving en veiligheid agentschappeninformatie over alle burgers van de EU te geven was. De besprekingen op de nieuwe gegeven-delende overeenkomst zijn sinds vorig jaar gegaan. De onderhandelaars proberen met minimumnormen overeenkomen om privacyrechten te beschermen. Dit zou het beperken van toegang tot informatie aan „erkende individuen met een geïdentificeerd doel“ voor hun onderzoek omvatten. De Amerikanen willen definitieve overeenkomst vóór de bladerenbureau van President Bush in Januari beveiligen. Dit weekend, privacycampagnevoerders zei de beweging de Amerikanen zou toestaan om „visserij“ expedities tegen iedereen uit te voeren zij van belang achtten om te zijn en verder individuele privacy zouden ondermijnen. Shami Chakrabarti, directeur van Vrijheid, zei: „Wij kunnen op onze eigen autoriteiten met gevoelige persoonlijke informatie nauwelijks vertrouwen. Welk herstel wij aan de andere kant van de Atlantische Oceaan zal hebben als onze details worden verloren of?“ misbruikt Het buitenlandse Bureau zou geen commentaar gisteren maken en een woordvoerder van de EU daalde om de kwestie te bespreken. Stewart Baker, hulpsecretaresse voor beleid bij het Ministerie van de V.S. van geboortelandveiligheid, zei dat de overeenkomst het voor de V.S. gemakkelijker zou maken om privé informatie over individuen uit banken, creditcardfirma's en andere bedrijven in Groot-Brittannië en de EU te verkrijgen. Hij zei vele firma's sancties van de EU onder ogen zagen als zij werden geacht om informatie tot de V.S. in breuk van de wetten van de gegevensbescherming overgegaan te hebben. De overeenkomst zou hen in feite grotere bescherming tegen straf in de toekomst geven. Het zou van toepassing zijn op luchtvaartlijnpassagiers en iedereen wie de overheid van de V.S. wettig gezag had om informatie te verkrijgen over, voegde hij toe. Het interne rapport zei de onderhandelaars grotendeels akkoord waren gegaan met een „internationale bindende overeenkomst“. Het pact zou het duidelijk maken dat het voor Europese overheden en bedrijven zoals Internet en creditcardfirma's wettig was om privé informatie naar de Verenigde Staten over te brengen en vice versa. Officials have still to resolve whether European citizens should be able to sue the US government over its handling of personal data. The deal is designed to resolve conflicts over information-sharing between the EU and the US that followed the 9/11 attacks in America. The US government demanded access to customer data held by airlines flying out of Europe and by a consortium, known as Swift, that monitors global banking transfers. American officials wanted the data so that they could search for suspicious activity. Barry Steinhardt, a lawyer at the American Civil Liberties Union, said: “Clearly it’s a broad exchange of data. It’s another example of the US drawing in the rest of the world to sacrifice its principles. “The US is essentially asking the rest of the world to conform to our very limited notion of what’s private. “It’s not a full-scale transfer of data between Europe and the United States. You know the funny thing is that even if “they” (always wanted to know who they were lol) did get everyones details and browsing habits ect. that doesnt mean that it’l serve them any purpose, the reason i say this is, did you ever get on the net knowing what you want to look at and end up going in the opposite direction? its like going to the toy store with loadsa money, your not gonny but the toy u wanted lol so they wont have our habits ect and as far as having the credit card and transaction details….would this not only be a list of the material things we buy and not a guide to who we are or what we do, im furious at the fact they get these details with ease but its a waste of thier money ’cause they will serve no purpose.
