Duplicitous Human Rights Misinformation on Ukraine

Duplicitous Human Rights Misinformation on Ukraine

by Stephen Lendman

A previous article discussed UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Navi Pillay. It discussed her duplicitous anti-Assad report. It wasn't her first one. It won't be her last

She's a reliable imperial tool. She buries truth. She lies for power. Her credibility long ago was lost. Not a shred of it remains.

She never had any in the first place. It launched her career earlier. It sustained it.

Her new report supports illegitimate putschist fascists. It's titled "Misinformation, propaganda and incitement to hatred need to be urgently countered."

During months of Maidan protests, Berkut special police showed remarkable restraint. Pillay lied claiming otherwise.

They used "excessive force," she said. So did other security elements, she added. Doing so "led to the radicalisation of the protest movement," she claimed.

Yanukovych government "(v)iolations related to the Maidan protests should be investigated and addressed in order to ensure accountability of perpetrators," she said.

"Most acts of severe beatings, torture and other cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment were reportedly attributed to the Berkut."

False! Western-supported and paid radicalized elements bore full responsibility. Pillay lied saying otherwise.

She claimed Crimea's reunification referendum had "no validity."

Saying it "raised a number of human rights concerns pertaining to freedom of expression, freedom of assembly and other civil and political rights flies in the face of reality.

Pillay twists truth for power. She does so to please her Western sponsors. She does consistently.

Crimea's referendum reflected model democratic process. Independent monitors called it scrupulously open, free and fair. Not a single irregularity was reported.

Not according to Pillay. She accused Crimean authorities of "vote-rigging." She lied saying so.

She said "paramilitary" and "soldiers without insignia" intimidated voters. Not one report on the ground said so. Conditions were polar opposite.

"What is clear from our findings is that there is an urgent need to ensure full respect for the rule of law and human rights in Ukraine and thus guarantee the enjoyment of all human rights for all, including minorities," she said.

"The international community, including the UN, can play a role in supporting the creation of such an environment."

"My Office and its monitoring team can provide impartial and authoritative human rights assessments to contribute to establishing the facts, de-escalating tension, and paving the way for an environment that is conducive to the holding of free and fair elections on 25 May."

Results when held will be farcical. Ballot choices exclude democracy. Junta power victory is certain. Illegitimate putschists run things. Don't expect Pillay to explain.

It bears repeating. Throughout her career, she's been a reliable imperial tool. Her reports include a litany of lies.

Russia's Foreign Ministry spokesman Aleksandr Lukashevich responded to her latest one. It mocks legitimacy. It reads like bad fiction.

On April 15, Lukashevich was unsparing. He was clear and unequivocal, saying:

"We have to acknowledge that the report by the UN Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights on the human rights situation in Ukraine is one-sided, politicized and unobjective, and does not reflect the real situation in this country."

"The authors of the report chose not to notice that the current 'authorities' in Ukraine have become such as a result of an armed coup d’etat."

"There is not a word about the February 22 events, including an attack and takeover by illegal armed formations of administrative buildings."

"The individuals who gained power illegally are positioned as a legitimate government."

"Facts testifying that from their first minutes the 'new' authorities have been working in the atmosphere of violence and lawlessness are being deliberately omitted."

"No attention is being paid to a very dangerous trend - the unchecked rise of aggressive nationalism and neo-Nazism."

"The almost 30-page document makes no use of the term 'neo-Nazism' at all."

It pretends it doesn't exist. It suggests fascist putschists are democrats. Doing so flies in the face of reality. Radicalized criminals run Ukraine.

"The rampant chauvinism staged by Right Sector and other ultra-right groups in western and central Ukraine is described as certain sources sharing their feelings that the minorities' right to take part in the political life is not fully taken into consideration."

Regime rights violations go unnoticed. Criminal acts aren't mentioned. Coverup and denial substitutes. Pillay supports lawlessness. She fronts for power.

She blames victims for putschist high crimes. She twists truth to fit Western policy. She commits grave human rights violations in the process.

Her report "ignores a whole host of other gross human rights violations by the self-proclaimed authorities, including, in particular, kidnappings, tortures, extrajudicial killings, encroachments on the independence of the judicial system, the suppression of mass media and civil society," said Lukashevich.

"The document abounds in flagrant selectiveness. It depicts radical actions on Maidan in late February as a peaceful protest and manifestation of popular discontent and effectively justifies it."

"Its attitude towards protests in the country's southeast is different." Pillay's so-called 'observers' failed to see the legitimate interests of the Russian population of this region."

"The report gives odious opinions on the situation around freedom of speech and press as if ignoring the ongoing attempts by the Ukrainian 'authorities' to resist objective coverage of the situation in the country, threats and intimidation of reporters, denying entry to foreign reporters."

"Overall, the impression is that the report was fabricated in accordance with preset conclusions, for which one need not have travelled to Ukraine."

Western-supportive elements wrote it. Truth was systematically buried. Big Lies substituted. It's longstanding imperial policy.

Putschists bear full responsibility for human rights abuses. Pillay blamed victims for their crimes. She does so consistently. She does it unapologetically. She disgraces the office she holds.

UK lists Israel as human rights abuser

British Foreign Office has listed the Israeli regime’s human rights record as one"of particular concern” in its quarterly report on human rights, over the Zionist entity's brutal attack on the Gaza Strip in November and its new settlement expansion plans.

The British government’s criticism against the illegal regime follows recent warnings by the British government that the regime's illegal settlements, especially the new buildings planned in E1 area, will alienate its international allies.

Britain’s new policy turn on the regime comes despite the fact that London has always been one of Tel Aviv's staunchest allies with British Prime Minister David Cameron priding himself on being a friend of Israel.

The British listing, which puts the regime alongside 27 other countries including Bahrain, follows Tel Aviv's aggressive bombing of Gaza that left over 100 Palestinian civilians killed and another 700 wounded including many who were critically hurt.

The Israeli regime has also announced it would push ahead with the hugely controversial plans to build 3,000 new settler homes on Palestinian lands.

The report reiterated an earlier warning by British Foreign Secretary William Hague who said the illegal settlement building in the West Bank and east Jerusalem “constitutes a serious provocation and an obstacle to peace.”

This comes as British Ambassador to Israel Matthew Gould has also warned the Israeli regime that the continued illegal expansion of settlements was draining its so-called international support.

British Foreign Secretary had also launched a tirade on the regime on Tuesday.

"I condemn recent Israeli decisions to expand settlements. I speak regularly to Israeli leaders stressing our profound concern that Israel's settlement policy is losing it the support of the international community," Hague said.

Despotic Saudi Regime Lobbies to Chair Human Rights Council

Despotic Saudi Regime Lobbies to Chair Human Rights Council

by Stephen Lendman

It's one of the world's most repressive states - a blight on humanity, a cancer in a part of the world known for despotic regimes.

Its human rights record is horrific by any standard. Fundamental rights don't exist.

State terror is official policy. Democracy is strictly prohibited. Torture and physical abuse are commonplace. So are public whippings, beheadings and hangings.

Due process and judicial fairness don't exist. Thousands of political prisoners languish in its gulag under deplorable conditions.

Abuse of power is extreme. So is massive corruption and lack of transparency. Inequality is institutionalized. Independent media don't exist. Nor do labor rights.

Islam is the state religion. No other is tolerated. All Saudis are required by law to be Muslims. Failure to comply is considered apostasy - a capital offense.

Capital punishment is standard practice for non-violent crimes - including adultery, armed robbery, drug smuggling, kidnapping, witchcraft, sorcery, and apostasy.

Absolute monarchal rule tolerates no criticism or opposition. It's despotic, lawless and brutal - a police state by any standard.

Riyadh is Washington's main Arab regional ally. One rogue state supports another.

The UN Human Rights Council includes 47 Member States. Many comprise a rogue's gallery of major human rights abusers - including Saudi Arabia, America, Algeria, Ethiopia, Morocco, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates, among others.

Membership is apportioned regionally as follows:

African nations - 13 seats

Asia/Pacific: 13 seats

Latin America and Caribbean - 8 seats

Western Europe and other states - 7 seats

Eastern Europe - 6 seats.

Members serve for three years. They're not eligible for immediate reelection after serving two consecutive terms.

General Assembly Res. 60/251 (April 2006) states:

"(T)he Council shall be responsible for promoting universal respect for the protection of all human rights and fundamental freedoms for all, without distinction of any kind and in a fair and equal manner…"

"(T)he Council should address situations of violations of human rights, including gross and systematic violations, and make recommendations thereon..."

Most often HRC mocks what it's mandated to support. It functions as a US imperial tool - notably siding with Washington-backed takfiri terrorists waging war on sovereign Syria. Failing to condemn US-orchestrated/Saudi-led terror-bombing of Yemen.

Reports indicate Riyadh wants to chair the UN Human Rights Council (HRC). Its membership alone is a travesty of justice.

One human rights group called letting Riyadh head the HRC an "abomination, and cynical by a nation that beheads people in public squares."

It's like letting a serial killer become police chief or a pyromaniac being appointed fire commissioner.

Swedish Foreign Minister Margot Wallstrom criticized Riyadh's human rights record - including its treatment of blogger Raif Badawi.

He was sentenced to 1,000 lashes, 10 years imprisonment and possible capital punishment -  for freely expressing his views.

Wallstrom said "(o)ne must protest against what are (punitive) medieval methods."

Riyadh responded by refusing to issue business visas to Swedish nationals or renew current ones. It tolerates no criticism of its horrific practices - even from a high-ranking diplomat like Wallstrom.

In January she tweeted: Riyadh's "cruel attempt to silence modern forms of expression has to be stopped."

Independent human rights groups condemn Riyadh's record as one of the world's most egregious for good reason.

Human rights in the Kingdom don't exist. Saudi Arabia is included in HRC's Asian group. One of its member states is next in line for HRC's chairmanship.

Reports indicate Riyadh is lobbying intensively to get it. Washington is supportive. US pressure may get other Asian nations to back what demands rejection.

Rogue state HRC chairmanship would mock what it claims to stand for. Riyadh's membership alone lacks legitimacy.

Appointing it head of the human rights group would make the organization a laughing stock. Don't bet against it happening.

George Galloway Defeated in UK General Election

George Galloway Defeated in UK General Election

by Stephen Lendman

Parliamentarian, writer, broadcaster, anti-war activist, human rights supporter, Israeli critic, and champion of Palestinian rights among other credentials Respect Party member Galloway was defeated in Thursday's general election.

He lost his Bradford West constituency decisively to New Labour's Naz Shah - 19,977 to 8,557. Down but not out, he commented, saying:

I don't begrudge the Labour members here their moment of celebration, of course."

"But there will be others who are already celebrating: the venal, the vile, the racists and the Zionists will all be celebrating."

"The hyena can bounce on the lion’s grave but it can never be a lion and in any case, I’m not in my grave. As a matter of fact I’m going off now to plan the next campaign."

"Bradford West will always have a central place in my heart," he explained.

Shah thanked all her opponents in her victory speech "with the exception of one," she said - leaving no doubt who she meant.

She outrageously claimed Galloway "demean(ed) our democracy" while campaigning. He blasted Torries and New Labour for continuing business as usual.

Millions of Brits are suffering. Corrupt politicians don't care. Food banks are proliferating, Galloway explained. "Can you imagine what the country will look like by 2020 if these barbarians are returned" to power, he stressed.

Social justice is fast disappearing. Neoliberal harshness is official UK policy. So is partnering with Washington's endless wars.

Galloway demands better. He was a marked man for championing what power brokers oppose.

Campaigning was rough and tumble. A Galloway spokesman denied his tactics were out of line.

"Shah has made it personal from the beginning," he said. "She hasn't told the truth, and she's told untruths about George."

It didn't affect his core supporters, reports indicated. They were out in force. It wasn't enough.

In 2012, Galloway defeated New Labour's Imran Hussein overwhelmingly. This time was different.

In late April, Galloway said he'll run for mayor of London if his reelection campaign fails. He told Sky News:

"I won't run for London mayor if I am reelected on 7 May. If I am not reelected, I will run" in May 2016.

He ruled out running as a sitting MP - suggesting it would be impossible to represent his constituents properly. A spokesman had no further comment.

Galloway remains one of politics most charismatic figures. Supporters and critics alike agree few can arouse a crowd the way he does.

It was an honor for this writer to be on air once with him as a guest. We had a rousing discussion not heard on major Western media outlets.

Hard truths on issues mattering most are strictly verboten. Galloway features them on air and in parliament. Maybe as mayor of London next year.

Ukraine: A US-Supported Fascist Cancer in Europe’s Heartland

Ukraine: A US-Supported Fascist Cancer in Europe's Heartland

by Stephen Lendman

As Russia and leaders from dozens of other countries prepare to celebrate Victory in Europe on May 9 in Moscow, the defeated scourge again threatens regional peace and stability - courtesy of US-installed and supported Ukrainian Nazi thugs.

They celebrated May 2 as Victory Day - the infamous year ago day when Kiev-unleashed Right Sector Nazi thugs murdered hundreds of anti-regime Odessans wanting to live free from the scourge of fascism.

City police did nothing while they shot, bludgeoned, strangled, hacked to death with axes, and threw defenseless victims from windows of Odessa's Trade Union House building where they sought sanctuary in vain.

Right Sector thugs awaited them inside for a well-planned mass murder operation ordered by Kiev, OK'd by Washington.

Ukraine's Nazi-controlled Svoboda party outrageously said the following:

"May 2, 2014 was a historic day for Odessa. Odessans bravely repulsed Kremlin gangs and their local leaders, thus protecting the city from the arrival of the 'Russian world.' "

"This day was decisive in the months-long stand off between the members of Odessa Maidan and the anti-government and staunchly pro-Moscow Anti-Maidan."

"It culminated in Ukrainian victory and the beginning of a new page in the history of the city."

Svoboda proclaimed May 2 as a "day of victory over the Kremlin terrorists groups, the day of purification from the Kremlin infection."

"This day is a proud page in the history of the city."

Washington is in bed with some of the world's most ruthless elements - including monarchal and other despots, Nazis, takfiri terrorists, and virtually any outlaw groups and individuals willing to do its dirty work.

US imperial ruthlessness menaces humanity worldwide. It assures endless wars, genocidal slaughter, mass destruction and unspeakable human misery.

It passes under the radar of a complicit media ignoring what demands daily headlines. Presstitution triumphs over legitimate journalism.

State-sponsored propaganda substitutes for reporting hard truths on issues mattering most.

Ukraine is in the eye of the storm. Irresponsible Russia bashing remains intense.

Last Thursday, State Department spokeswoman Marie Harf outrageously accused Moscow of "a lot of lip service…about its Minsk commitments but not a lot of action."

Asked about the year ago Odessa massacre, she ducked  explaining Kiev's responsibility complicit with Washington.

She called the anniversary "important…not to lose sight of the bigger picture in Ukraine and that the fact that Russia's 'aggression' has left more than 6,000 people dead and displaced at least a million more."

It bears repeating what previous articles stressed. Russia is the continent's leading peace and stability proponent.

America threatens world peace. It bears full responsibility for Ukrainian crisis conditions - for dirty war without mercy against Donbass civilians, for last May's Odessa massacre murdering hundreds in cold blood.

Don't expect any US official to explain. They're complicit in the highest of high crimes.

Blaming Russia irresponsibly is cover for their own criminality - on an unprecedented worsening global scale.

The Donetsk People's Republic Prime Minister Denis Pushilin accused Kiev's "overseas sponsors" (mainly Washington) of helping their puppet regime continue waging war on Donbass.

Poroshenko refuses to observe Minsk ceasefire terms. He ignores them entirely. He's preparing for escalated war.

"We are ready for any turn of events, but we will do the utmost to solve the situation at the negotiating table," Pushilin explained.

Fascist regimes don't negotiate. They demand. Kiev and its US puppet master want unconditional Donbass surrender.

They want nationwide fascist rule. They deplore democratic rights. They'll continue waging dirty war to eliminate them entirely nationwide. Expect lots more death and destruction ahead.

Moscow expressed concern about blatant Kiev Minsk breaches - especially recent heavy shelling of Donetsk.

According to DPR officials, residential areas were targeted. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov urged OSCE chairman Ivica Dacic to intervene responsibly to halt Kiev aggression.

Moscow's Foreign Ministry wants OSCE monitors to "demand that Kiev immediately stop a flagrant violation of the Minsk agreements."

Donetsk Mayor Igor Martynov said residential buildings and a school were struck.

OSCE's Special Monitoring Mission (SMM) is expected to visit the targeted area on Sunday to assess what happened.

Its latest report explained deteriorating conditions "involving live fire (by Ukrainian forces) near and at SMM patrols."

It bears repeating what previous articles explained. Minsk was dead on arrival.

Washington demands continued dirty war without mercy. Expect escalation at Obama's discretion.

Potentially targeting Russia belligerently looms. US forces are readying for confrontation. Will WW III follow?

NYT Gives Former Peruvian Strongman/Human Rights Abuser Feature Op-ed Space

NYT Gives Former Peruvian Strongman/Human Rights Abuser Feature Op-Ed Space

by Stephen Lendman

Alejandro Toledo served as Peruvian President from 2001 - 2006. He led opposition against former despot Alberto Fujimori (1990 - 2000).

He was elected on populist promises to create more jobs, alleviate dire poverty, deliver social justice, and end years of corrupted hardline rule including serious human rights abuses.

As president, he continued business as usual Washington Consensus policies - same old, same old neoliberal harshness.

They include obeying IMF/World Bank diktats, paying bankers first, privatization of state enterprises, deregulation, ignoring social needs, and cracking down hard on nonbelievers.

He targeted anyone challenging his agenda. Independent journalists were harassed, threatened and attacked. So were human rights worker.

Public protesters faced harsh recrimination. Torture remained official policy. Peruvians suffered hugely during his tenure.

Times editors ignored his ruthlessness. They featured his op-ed criticizing Venezuela's model democracy - polar opposite Peru during his tenure and today.

He blamed President Nicolas Maduro for Obama's political and economic war - including US manipulated street violence and failed February coup d'etat.

He called violent anti-government protesters "peaceful." He ignored clear evidence against coup plotters - and other opposition figures in league with Washington to topple Venezuela's government.

He ludicrously claimed Bolivarian fairness fosters inequality. His solution includes failed policies during his tenure - serving monied interests at the expense of all others, dressed up in populist rhetoric without meaning or follow-through.

He outrageously accused Maduro of "conspiratorial mindset (thinking) and authoritarian instincts...carried over from the regime of his predecessor, Hugo
Chavez…"

Venezuela is the region's model democracy - polar opposite America's sham version, what Peruvians got throughout his tenure and conditions today.

Dissent was crushed. In Venezuela it's cherished. Toledo wants criminal opposition figures freed. He wants monied interests alone served.

He wants external and internal pressure maintained against sovereign Venezuelan independence. He wants pro-Western rogue leadership replacing its democracy.

Times editors share his extremism. They waged war on Venezuela throughout Chavez's tenure.

It continues against Marduro. They support wealth, power and privilege. They back every imperial war America wages.

They want monied interests alone served. They support exploiting all others to make them richer.

A Final Comment

Venezuela represents model Bolivarian fairness. Peru is polar opposite. Why the IMF and World Bank selected it for their October 5 - 12, 2015 meeting - their first in Latin America in half a century.

Thousands of neoliberal advocates will meet in Lima - in recognition of Peru following strict IMF/World Bank diktats at the expense of its own people greatly harmed.

Toledo's legacy remains in place. He urges all Latin America to follow his failed agenda - enforced by harsh crackdowns against nonbelievers.

The Scourge of Nazism in Ukraine

The Scourge of Nazism in Ukraine

by Stephen Lendman

What millions died for to defeat during WW II is now resurgent in Europe's heartland.

Fascist lunatics in Washington installed overt Nazis to run their newest client state. They're taking full advantage.

They're waging naked aggression on Donbass - at present low-level ahead of renewing it full-blown.

Hundreds of US combat troops (trained killers) are working directly with Kiev's Nazi-infested National Guard and other extremist groups - teaching them the fine art of murder.

Perhaps planning to join them in battle when hostilities resume full-blown - maybe with supportive US terror-bombing.

Kiev Nazis want all opposition elements eliminated - either killed, imprisoned, disappeared or deported.

They want unchallenged control. The Saker reports they created a database of "separatists (and) militants, etc."

It's called "(i)information for law enforcement authorities and special services about pro-Russian terrorists, separatists, mercenaries, war criminals, and murderers."

Anyone opposing fascist rule risks being eliminated one way or another.

Nazis under Hitler were notorious for radicalized torchlight parades - complete with chilling slogans and symbols.

In January, thousands of Ukrainian ultranationalists paraded in Kiev. They celebrated Nazi collabortor/mass murderer Stepan Bandera's 106th birthday.

At the time, Czech President Milos Zeman was horrified. "There is something wrong with Ukraine," he said.

"Yesterday evening I was browsing the Internet and discovered a video showing the demonstration on Kiev's Maidan on January 1."

"These demonstrators carried portraits of Stepan Bandera, which reminded me of Reinhard Heydrich" - Gestapo head and key holocaust architect.

"The parade itself was organized similar to Nazi torchlight parades, where participants shouted the slogan: ‘Death to the Poles, Jews and communists without mercy,' " Zeman explained.

Ukrainian fascists consider Bandera a national hero. He was a vicious mass murderer.

Russia's Foreign Ministry Commissioner for Human Rights Konstantin Dolgov calls reemergent Nazism in Ukraine a European threat.

"Torchlit marches in Ukraine demonstrate that it is continuing to move along the path of the Nazis," he stressed - with full US support and encouragement.

They were at it again in Odessa. They marched to commemorate Maxim Chaika's death - ultranationalist Blood and Honor group leader. He died during a 2009 street fight.

Around 200 overt Nazis were involved - marching while shouting racist/anti-communist/anti-Russian/ultranationalist slogans.

"The White man is for the Great Ukraine," they chanted. "One race, one nation, one homeland."

"Glory to Ukraine - the glory of heroes!" "Hang the commies." Odessan police accompanied marchers to protect them.

Participants evoked memories of May 2, 2014 when Right Sector Nazi thugs murdered hundreds of Odessans in cold blood.

They remain unaccountable for appalling high crimes. So-called investigation into what happened whitewashed them.

State-sponsored mass murder in Ukraine is considered OK. Anyone wanting democratic freedoms is vulnerable.

Truth-telling journalists risk imprisonment or death. Nazi-infested fascist regimes tolerate no opposition.

Last week, Normandy Four foreign ministers called for ending fighting in Donbass.

Washington bears full responsibility. Its Ukrainian proxies share it. Germany and France have done nothing to halt it.

Russia alone continues going all-out to end it - impossible given Obama's rage for war.

Last Thursday, Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu said "(t)he United States and its allies have crossed all possible lines in their drive to bring Kiev into their orbit."

"That could not have failed to trigger our reaction. Aiming at complete dominance, Washington stopped taking into account the interests of other countries and respect for international law."

On April 16, addressing Moscow's fourth International Security Conference, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said it's "impossible to resolve the conflict in Ukraine by military force."

"(T)here is no reasonable alternative to peacefully settling the domestic Ukrainian crisis (than) on the basis of full and unconditional compliance with" February 12 agreed on ceasefire terms.

He hopes Western officials will "force authorities in Kiev to scrap destructive policies aimed at glorifying the Nazis and persecuting those who saved Europe from" its scourge.

As long as fascist neocons run things in Washington, chances for world peace are nil. Expect endless wars to continue - perhaps with nuclear weapons able to end life on earth.

Human Rights Group Accuses Israel of Deliberately Murdering Gazan Children

Human Rights Group Accuses Israel of Deliberately Murdering Gazan Children

by Stephen Lendman

A new Defense for Children International-Palestine (DCIP) report accuses Israel of willfully killing Palestinian children during last summer's Gaza war.

Around 550 children were murdered in cold blood - two-thirds under age 12.

Israel considers all civilians legitimate targets. International law calls killing them a war crime.

Another 3,400 children were injured - over 1,000 maimed for life. They need vital medical care unavailable because of Israel's lawless siege - ongoing aggression by any standard with full US-led Western support.

America and Israel partner in each other's high crimes. They're the world's leading aggressor states - the most egregious human and civil rights abusers.

They're mindless of core international laws, norms and standards.

Imagine willfully murdering defenseless/nonthreatening young children at home asleep, at play, going to or from school, or running errands for parents.

Imagine considering them enemies of the state. Imagine using illegal terror weapons against them.

Imagine traumatizing young survivors for life. Imagine Israel outrageously trying to justify the unjustifiable.

Imagine a grieving Palestinian mother explaining her nine-year-old son's "arms and legs were cut off" by an Israeli shell.

"The upper part of his body was separated from his lower body, which was turned into small pieces. I screamed," she said.

She and her son were returning to a UN shelter when disaster struck. Israel murdered dozens of entire families in cold blood.

Accountability for its highest of high crimes remains nowhere in sight.

Cold-blooded murder is longstanding Israeli policy. Viciously persecuting Palestinians continues daily.

Israel is a ruthless terror state. It's just a matter of time before it ravages Gaza again.

DCIP's report said "2014 was a year that brought violence, fear and loss (to Gaza)."

"The Israeli military offensive" lasting 51 days from early July to late August killed nearly 550 Palestinian children.

Nearly 3,400 other children were wounded - many from illegal terror weapons.

Over 2,200 Palestinians died - mostly defenseless civilians.

"Investigations undertaken by (DCIP) into Palestinian child fatalities during Operation Protective Edge found overwhelming and repeated evidence of international humanitarian law violations committed by Israeli forces."

"These included direct attacks on children, and indiscriminate and disproportionate attacks on civilian homes, schools, and residential neighborhoods."

Witness testimonies and other documented evidence DCIP collected "showed places that should have been provided children with shelter and safety were not immune from attacks from Israeli forces."

"Missiles fired from Israeli drones and warplanes, artillery shelling, and shrapnel scattered by explosions killed children in their homes, on the street as they fled from attacks with their families, and as they sought shelter from the bombardment in schools."

Israel killed scores of children in drone attacks alone. Clear evidence shows "Israeli forces directly targeted children."

One of many examples affected Rawya Joudeh and four of her five children. An Israeli drone attack murdered them in cold blood - "as they played together" in the family's Jabalia refugee camp yard.

Around half the number of children Israel killed came from attacks on residential buildings.

Sunday, July 20, characterized Israeli viciousness most clearly - the deadliest day for children throughout its lawless aggression.

A nighttime and ground assault on the residential Gaza City Shuja’iyya neighborhood killed 27 children. It injured at least 29 others.

Israeli armed forces are "regularly implicated in serious, systematic and institutionalized human rights violations against Palestinian children living in the Occupied Palestinian Territory," said DCIP.

"Children affected by armed conflict are entitled to special respect and protections under international law…"

Israel breaches it repeatedly. It indiscriminately and disproportionately murders and injures defenseless Palestinian civilians in cold blood - including young children and infants, helpless against its onslaught.

Evidence of Israel high crimes is overwhelming. It bears repeating. Accountability is nowhere in sight - nor justice for long-suffering Palestinians.

DCIP stressed "(w)ithout an end to the current regime of collective punishment, targeted assassinations, and regular military offensives, the situation for Gaza's children (and all illegally occupied Palestinians is) guaranteed to further deteriorate."

American Exceptionalism Justifies War on Humanity

American Exceptionalism Justifies War on Humanity

by Stephen Lendman

It OKs mass murder. It permits flouting rule of law principles, norms and standards.

America is a terror state. Criminality continues on an unprecedented scale.

Permanent war is official US policy. One country after another is ravaged and destroyed. Millions of corpses attest to America's barbarity.

No nation in world history matches it. Obama exceeds the worst of his predecessors. He's a war criminal multiple times over.

Advancing America's imperium matters most. US hegemonic ambitions risk global war.

So does its rage for full spectrum dominance over all land, surface and sub-surface sea, air, space, electromagnetic spectrum and information systems with enough overwhelming power to fight and win global wars against any adversary.

International laws, treaties, conventions, standards and norms don't matter. Washington rules alone apply. Might v. right reflects them.

Obama's proxy war on Syria rages without end. Events in Ukraine reflect US-led NATO's drive East.

Co-opting it into the Atlantic Alliance ensures encroaching on Russia's entire Western flank.

US military strength on its borders cuts it off from Europe. Marginalizing, isolating and weakening it at the same time.

Washington's inexorable drive East threatens world peace. It hangs by a thread. Ukraine is a global flashpoint. It's the gravest geopolitical crisis since WW II.

War without mercy continues. Obama offers full support. His insatiable hegemonic appetite is limitless.

His West Point address showed it. He glorified war in the name of peace. "America has rarely been stronger relative to the rest of the world," he said.

"(T)he United United States is and remains the one indispensable nation."

"…America's willingness to apply force around the world is the ultimate safeguard against chaos."

"Here's my bottom line: America must always lead on the world stage."

"If we don't, no one else will…(H)istory and hope (are) on our side." America's agenda is "right and just."

In other words, waging war on humanity is OK. US interests alone matter. It's "our way of life," according to Obama.

Not for ordinary Americans. Monied interests alone benefit. Plundering world resources serves them. So does exploiting global populations.

Wars without mercy are America's option of choice. Ukraine is in the eye of the storm.

On June 2, Russia's UN envoy Vitaly Churkin addressed a closed door Security Council session. He discussed Moscow's draft resolution.

He told reporters it's "not politicized and is of a purely humanitarian nature." It's to "alleviat(e) human suffering."

"Every day civilians get killed, among them women and children. Ukrainian military and paramilitary forces impede the peaceful population, leaving besieged cities or sending their children to safe places."

"Buses of children are turned back.” Ukraine's war without mercy includes "heavy and indiscriminate shelling of residential areas."

Russia demands “an immediate cessation of hostilities, urges parties to commit themselves to sustainable ceasefire, and calls for the establishment by the parties of humanitarian corridors in order to allow the civilian population to leave safely and to ensure humanitarian assistance.”

Moscow's draft was submitted because “we believe for the situation in Ukraine not to deteriorate further, something needs to be done now in order to stop the violence.”

Churkin criticized what he called Security Council "usual suspects." They're "showing no urgency" in resolving things diplomatically.

"How come we talk all the time, as you know, theoretically about the need of preventing diplomacy, about the need to stop conflict, and then some colleagues sit in the Council and sort of shake their heads and say, 'Well, maybe they are doing the right thing, this military thing, they have the right to do that.' "

"Looking for various legal frames for this kind of an attitude is wrong."

"It is our duty to stop the conflict as quickly as possible, to try to stop violence as quickly as possible."

Washington called Moscow's draft resolution "hypocritical." It blames Russia for its own crimes.

On Monday, State Department spokeswoman Jen Psaki lied, saying:

"It is hypocritical of the Russian leadership to call for an end to violence and the creation of humanitarian corridors when, at the same time, armed irregular forces are entering Ukraine from Russia, weapons are being brought illegally from Russia into Ukraine, Russian-backed separatists are attacking new targets and holding OSCE monitoring teams hostage, and Russia is doing nothing to stop these activities."

"So if they are going to call for or would support a reduction in tensions and a de-escalation, it would be more effective for them to end those activities."

On Monday, Sergey Lavrov said Western nations assured Russia things would improve after Ukraine's May 25 election.

Instead, "everything is happening in exactly the opposite way. People are dying every day," Lavrov stressed.

"Peaceful civilians are suffering more and more. The army, military aviation and heavy weapons continue to be used against them."

Russia forthrightly opposes "any attempts to politicize the humanitarian crisis and to use it to justify external forceful interference…"

On Tuesday, Russia's Children's Rights Commissioner Pavel Astakhov said:

"As many as 90,700 thousand orphans are staying in Ukraine, around one thousand of them are in the zone of hostilities."

"Russian children's institutions are prepared to receive and accommodate all Ukrainian orphans."

"The more Ukraine uses heavy weapons, the larger the number of refugees who ask for help to pass to Russia as the problem is that no humanitarian corridors had not been created yet."

Washington, Britain, France and Kiev putschists block them. They prioritize conflict.

They deplore resolving things peacefully. They're mindless of civilian deaths and suffering. They wage war without mercy.

Moscow accused US-led NATO of encouraging Kiev aggression. According to its NATO envoy Aleksandr Grushko:

"NATO is providing Kiev - a member of its Partnership for Peace program - with technical assistance, thus encouraging the prolongation of its use of force."

"Thus the Alliance accepts a part of the responsibility for the escalation of the situation, and the collapse of diplomatic negotiations."

NATO chief Anders Fogh Rasmussen blamed Moscow irresponsibly saying:

"The climate at the moment is not good - not because NATO wants it that way, but because of Russia's illegal aggression against Ukraine."

US-led NATO bears full responsibility. "We have noticed unprecedented NATO activity near Russia's borders," said Grushko.

"It is excessive, inappropriate, and weakens stability, security and predictability in the Euro-Atlantic region."

War rages near Russia's border. It's "necessary to employ all possibilities to put an end to violence and take the situation onto a peaceful road of negotiations."

"We urged the Council members to demand from the Kiev authorities to immediately stop the punitive operation in the southeast of the country, to begin the implementation of the Geneva accord of April 17 and the 'road map' of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe."

"We also expect the Alliance to at last denounce the criminal wrongdoing of radical nationalists, committed in different Ukrainian cities."

US-led NATO hypocritically supports "political dialogue based on democratic values, respect for human rights, the rights of minorities as well as supremacy of law."

It's actions are polar opposite. They're "fraught with a growing tension in the Euro-Atlantic region."

They disrupt "the existing system of security in the region." They facilitate war without mercy.

They risk potential East/West confrontation. Russia continues going all-out for diplomatic conflict resolution.

It champions peace. It deplores war. It's mindful not to let Washington draw it into conflict with NATO over Ukraine.

It's horrified over war without mercy. Death toll numbers mount.

Imagine using helicopter gunships, warplanes, tanks, artillery and other heavy weapons against civilian populations.

On Tuesday, a Slavyansk self-defense spokesman said:

"Several minutes ago two (Sukhoi) Su-25 airplanes conducted strikes…After them, five helicopters…launch(ed) massive airstrikes…"

"There have been casualties and injuries both among militiamen and the civilian population."

Southeast Front self-defense spokesman Kostantin Knirik said:

"Two airstrikes have been launched against Semyonovka. One of them hit a roadblock, and the second one hit immediately the village."

"At least one civilian resident has been killed and scores have been injured."

"Two buses full of children tried to leave the city, but they were stopped by Ukrainian security forces."

"Furthermore, (passengers) were told explicitly: turn back or we will start to bombard you."

Donetsk self-defense forces reported large-scale Ukraine aggression.

"Convoys of armored vehicles are moving toward Slavyansk."

"Their numbers exceed the number of vehicles already deployed around the city by several times. Apparently, they are preparing to run tanks over us."

A Kramatorsk self-defense spokesman reported "a serious gun battle underway. Three local residents (were) killed" so far.

Slavyansk People's Mayor Vyacheslav Ponomaryov said:

"As a result of (Tuesday's) strikes (on) Slavyansk, one civilian resident has died. The strikes targeted mainly the village of Semenyovka and the city center."

Lugansk's press service chief Vladimir Inogoodsky called Monday's attack "a military crime."

"I was an immediate eyewitness of it, and I saw the warplanes make approaches and open fire," he said.

"Ukrainian mass media are spreading (false) assertions now that we blew ourselves up on our own."

"They not only pour out slander on us and deceive the international community but they also kill us."

Russia's Human Rights Commissioner Ella Pamfilova briefed Putin on refugee problems.

"(T)he inflow from (Ukraine's East) has begun to grow," she said. "(W)e need an urgent systematic program as to how these people should be received, provided with jobs, and so on."

Putin responded saying:

"I will instruct the presidential secretariat to help implement all of your proposals along with the government."

Humanitarian crisis conditions worsen daily. Obama bears full responsibility. Megalomania defines his agenda. So do delusions of grandeur.

He's heading America for full-blown tyranny and ruin. His war on humanity threatens world peace.

Poet Hayyim Bialik (1873 - 1934) once wrote about "with heart's blood and marrow pay(ing) the price of the blaze."

A century later he'd have had weapons of mass destruction in mind. He'd have wondered how madness became policy.

Why waging wars instead of preventing them is prioritized. Washington is humanity's greatest threat.

Its hubris and imperial arrogance are unprecedented. It stops at nothing for unchallenged dominance.

Its war on humanity persists. It made planet earth unfit to live on.

Battling for Ukraine’s Soul

Battling for Ukraine's Soul

by Stephen Lendman

Eastern Ukrainian freedom fighters aren't quitting. They reject Kiev putschists.

They deplore fascist governance. They want fundamental democratic rights everyone deserves.

So do Maidan activists. Nonviolent ones. Thousands. On Sunday, they convened a People's Veche (assembly).

The first in two months. In Kiev's Independence Square. Thousands participated. To decide whether to continue tent city activism.

"We are not going to go away," they said. They're watching president-elect Poroshenko. They'll give him a month to deliver on promises made.

On Sunday, activists spoke publicly. They said they protested "to change the system of power." They saw "no changes so far.
Maidan must stand firm until the goal is achieved," they stressed.

They passed a manifesto. It says "Maidan will not be dissolved until all (their) demands are met."

They include:

  • "punishing criminals, lustration, a package of laws to change the structure of power bodies, punishing those involved in the killings and torture of activists,

  • changing the structure of Maidan;

  • developing a system for dialogue with the authorities," and

  • including Maidan activists in municipal police.

Where this goes remains to be seen. What's ongoing is encouraging. Perhaps growing numbers of Western Ukrainians will join their Eastern counterparts.

Perhaps Obama's newest imperial trophy isn't as secure as he thinks. Perhaps defeat will be snatched from the jaws of victory.

Perhaps the battle for Ukraine's soul looks more promising than earlier thought. The fullness of time will tell.

Eastern Ukrainian fighting continues. On May 31, Itar Tass headlined "Ukraine forces resume massive shelling on Semenovka near east Ukraine's Slavyansk."

Sirens warned area residents. Gunfire was heard. Heavy shelling began Friday evening.

Intensive mortar and howitzer fire lasted hours. On Saturday, center city was attacked.

Residential areas were targeted. Revolution and Lenin Street houses were partly destroyed.

On June 1, Itar Tass headlined "Six killed as self-defense forces come under attack at Donetsk airport."

According to Donetsk People's Republic's (DPR) press office:

"During an attempt to take away the bodies of self-defense militiamen, the Ukrainian army fired at an ambulance and self-defense fighters, killing six people."

Ukrainian forces killed dozens of self-defense fighters and civilians. They did so in battles for Donetsk's international airport.

Regime snipers target anything that moves. Civilians are fair game. They're as vulnerable as freedom fighters.

According to DPR Prime Minister Alexander Borodai:

They "continue to be killed every day. No one can give exact figures because access to the airport area is now impossible."

"We still can’t take away all the bodies and give the exact figure of how many people were killed."

On June 1, Voice of Russia (VOR) headlined "Chinese military official speaks of need to stop punitive operation against civilians in east Ukraine."

Russia's Defense Ministry press service was quoted saying:

"During the discussion of topical international security problems, separate attention was paid to the situation in Ukraine."

"The head of the Chinese delegation expressed support for the Russian position and voiced serious concern about the developments in Southeastern Ukraine stressing the importance of stopping Kiev's punitive operation against civilians."

According to China's Deputy Foreign Minister Cheng Guopin:

"Concerning the ongoing violence in Ukraine, I think this is the result of the toppling of the legitimate authorities of this country in the course of disturbances and provocations staged on Maidan."

"This is the direct cause of the crisis." So is interventionist Western policy, he added.

He stressed "(e)xternal influence, primarily, that of the United States and Western countries which are trying for force Ukraine to follow the(ir) development path…"

"This has an extremely negative effect on the stability and economic development of Ukraine."

"The Ukrainian issue is an internal affair of Ukraine, which needs to be resolved by the Ukrainians themselves."

"We are opposed to any forms of external interference." Cheng called sanctions on Russia counterproductive. Destabilizing.

"We believe (they're) unable to help resolve the Ukrainian crisis" responsibly, he added. They make crisis conditions worse.

China "is ready to play a constructive role in the cause of resolving the Ukrainian issue by political methods based on the principles of objectivity and justice and in compliance with international law."

"(D)omestic affairs in Ukraine should be settled by the Ukrainian people" alone. "The legitimate interests of all peoples in Ukraine should be respected."

Resolving crisis conditions should "meet the just, legitimate and reasonable demands of the parties comprehensively, in a balanced way and in full measure."

"(O)n the basis of law and order." Without no outside interference.

On June 1, VOR headlined "US/NATO/EU nazi thugs continue killing Ukrainians."

Noncombatant civilians as well as freedom fighters. In cold blood. With impunity. With full Western support.

According to VOR:

America's "foreign policy establishment" is mindless of other people's interests.

Washington's "backed armed coup d'etat in Ukraine (took) this egregious inexcusable ignorance to the next level…"

Ukraine "show(ed) the world that not only is the US completely out of touch with the peoples of the world but in fact has proven to anyone who may have had a doubt that the US not only has no interest in the people being affected and killed by its policies but in fact is completely contemptuous of anyone that is not of use to their waning empire."

Junta power runs Ukraine. War without mercy rages. Calling it an "anti-terror operation" doesn't wash.

It's to institutionalize what growing numbers of Ukrainians reject. Imagine shelling residential areas.

Imagine targeting apartment buildings, hospitals, daycare centers and schools.

Imagine indiscriminate bombing runs. Imagine shooting anything that moves.

Imagine dead women and children. Imagine US-supported fascist ruthlessness.

Imagine ongoing atrocities. Imagine media scoundrel
