Blair and Arnie’s get-together on the Prime Minister’s final full day was a somewhat bizarre sight. بلير وarnie - معا للحصول على منصب رئيس الوزراء النهائي ليوم كامل وكان غريب بعض الشيء عن بالنا. IT WAS the obvious joke to make, but Tony Blair made it anyway. وكان واضحا لجعل نكتة ، ولكن توني بلير ادلى على أي حال.

And it was apposite that someone so often criticised for being a political actor was joined by an actor who became an unlikely politician. وكان شخص ما ان تلقى كثيرا ما انتقد لكونه السياسي الفاعل وانضم اليه من طرف فاعل سياسي واصبح من المستبعد تماما.
It was a businesslike affair, with both men fielding questions on climate change and how the G8 deal reached last month would work. ومن شأن رجال الاعمال ، مع كل من الرجال في الميدان اسءله بشأن تغير المناخ وكيفية معالجة مجموعة الدول الصناعية الثمانى الكبرى الذى تم التوصل اليه الشهر الماضي من شأنه ان العمل.
Which was a shame, as the journalists were hoping that Mr Schwarzenegger would talk like he does on the American electoral circuit, where he says things like, “To those critics who are so pessimistic about our economy, I say: Don’t be economic girlie men!” وهو عار ، حيث أن الصحفيين كانوا يأملون في ان السيد schwarzenegger من شأنه ان يفعل مثل الحديث عن الدوائر الانتخابية الامريكية ، حيث يقول اشياء مثل ، "لأولئك النقاد الى درجة من التشاؤم حول الاقتصاد ، وانا أقول : لا يكون الاقتصادية بناتي الرجال! "
It would have been much more fun if he’d have taken questions on Mr Blair’ s decade in office. انه كان من اكثر متعة وقال انه اذا اتخذت تريد اسءله عن السيد بلير 'عقد في مكتب ق.
“I say to people who think it was wrong to invade Iraq and think inequality is getting worse – Don’t be such girlie men!” "اقول للناس اعتقد انه من الخطأ التفكير في غزو العراق وعدم المساواة تزداد سوءا -- لا يكون مثل هذا الرجل بناتي!"
Then Mr Blair could have said “Hasta la vista” and roared off into the sunset with his new buddy on a Harley Davidson. بعد ذلك يمكن ان يكون السيد بلير وقال "وداعا" ومهدور من الغروب الى مهمته الجديدة مع رفيق علي هارلي دافيدسون.
Sadly, all that happened was that they both behaved like statesmen, then got into a Government car and went to a school in Hammersmith. ومن المحزن أن كل ما حدث هو انهم يتصرفون مثل كل رجال الدولة ، ثم حصلت الحكومة الى السياره وذهب الى مدرسة في Hammersmith. Oh well. أوه ايضا.
Still, after his speech two weeks ago when he criticised the “feral beasts” of the media, you wondered whether Mr Blair had been watching some of Mr Schwarzenegger’s films. لا تزال ، بعد خطابه قبل اسبوعين عندما انتقد "الابده حيوانات" من وسائل الاعلام ، وأنت تتساءل عما إذا كان السيد بلير قد تم مشاهدة بعض من السيد schwarzenegger افلام.

“We will see.” "سوف نرى."
Indeed. حقا. Asked if he had any advice for the Chancellor, he replied simply, “No. سئل عما اذا كان لديه اي نصيحه للمستشار ، اجاب بكل بساطة ، "رقم Because he is perfectly capable of doing the job on his own, thank you.” لأنه قادر تماما على أداء المهمة من تلقاء نفسه ، وشكرا لكم. "
You suspect he was thinking, ‘And the chances of him taking any notice are zero anyway, as you lot well know’. كنت تظن انه كان يفكر ، 'وفرص له اتخاذ اي ملاحظه على أي حال هي صفر ، كما كنت اعرف جيدا الكثير'.
Ten years ago, the crowds were chanting “Tony! قبل عشر سنوات ، كانت الحشود الهتاف "طوني! Tony!” Yesterday, on the final day, it was West London schoolchildren chanting “Terminator! توني!
