Olmert to US: Impose naval blockade on Iran اولمرت الى الولايات المتحدة : فرض الحصار البحري على ايران
By بواسطة Barak Ravid باراك ravid and و Amos Harel اموس هاريل | Prime Minister Ehud Olmert has proposed in discussions with the speaker of the US House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi, that a naval blockade be imposed on Iran as one of several ways to pressure Iran into stopping its uranium enrichment program. | اعلن رئيس الوزراء الاسرائيلي ايهود اولمرت اقترح في مناقشات مع رئيس مجلس النواب الامريكى ، نانسي بيلوسي ، ان يكون الحصار البحري المفروض على ايران بأنها واحدة من عدة وسائل للضغط على ايران الى وقف برنامج تخصيب اليورانيوم.
Although the White House denied a published report that US President George W. Bush intends to attack Iran before the end of his term in January, the Bush administration is said not to have ruled out entirely the possibility of an attack on Iran’s nuclear facilities. ورغم ان البيت الابيض نفى ان نشر تقرير الرئيس الامريكى جورج دبليو بوش تعتزم مهاجمة ايران قبل نهاية ولايته في كانون الثاني / يناير ، ادارة الرئيس بوش قد قال لا أستبعد تماما امكانيه شن هجوم على منشآت ايران النووية .
A story in the Jerusalem Post quoted an unidentified official as claiming that a “senior member” of Bush’s entourage to Israel last week made the statement about attacking Iran in a closed meeting. قصة في ونقلت جيروزاليم بوست عن مسؤول مجهول مدعيا ان "كبار الاعضاء" شلته من بوش الى اسرائيل الاسبوع الماضي ، ادلى بهذا التصريح من مهاجمة ايران في جلسة مغلقة. However, White House press secretary Dana Perino said the article is “not worth the paper it’s written on.” She added that the administration’s preference and actions for dealing with Iran remain through peaceful diplomatic means. ومع ذلك ، السكرتير الصحفى للبيت الابيض دانا قال perino المادة هو "لا تساوي الورق الذي كتب أنه" واضافت ان الادارة تفضل والاجراءات للتعامل مع ايران لا تزال من خلال الوسائل الدبلوماسية السلميه.
Israelis who spoke to Bush and his entourage while they were in Israel last week said they had the impression that the military option “is on the table,” and that the president felt a sense of deep obligation to overcome the Iranian threat. وتحدث الى الاسرائيليين من بوش وحاشيته ، بينما كانوا في اسرائيل في الاسبوع الماضي وقال انها لديه انطباعا بان الخيار العسكري "هو على الطاوله" ان الرئيس وشعرت بالمعنى العميق للالتزام للتغلب على التهديد الايراني.
The Iranian issue was central in Olmert’s meeting over lunch Monday with Pelosi, together with 12 other members of Congress in the bipartisan delegation Pelosi led. الايراني القضية المركزية في اجتماع اولمرت أثناء الغداء مع pelosi الاثنين ، بالاضافة الى 12 اعضاء اخرين في الكونغرس في الحزبين أدى وفد pelosi. Among those present were House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer, House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Howard Berman, and heads of the House Appropriations Committee, Nita Lowey and Gary Ackerman. ومن بين الحاضرين كان منزل زعيم الاغلبيه steny hoyer ، منزل رئيس لجنة الشؤون الخارجية هوارد بيرمان ، ورؤساء مجلس النواب لجنة الاعتمادات ، nita lowey وغاري اكرمان.
“The present economic sanctions on Iran have exhausted themselves,” Olmert told Pelosi, adding that the international community needed to take much more drastic steps to stop Iran’s efforts to obtain nuclear weapons. "هذا عقوبات اقتصادية على ايران قد استنفذت نفسها ،" وقال اولمرت pelosi ، واضاف ان المجتمع الدولى بحاجة الى اتخاذ خطوات اكثر جذريه لوقف جهود ايران للحصول على الاسلحة النووية. Olmert also said there was a great deal of space between the present sanctions and military action. وقال اولمرت أيضا كان هناك قدر كبير من هذا الفضاء بين العقوبات والعمل العسكري. Aggressive action could be taken that was not violent, Olmert told Pelosi. العدوانية الاجراءات التي يمكن اتخاذها ان لم يكن العنف ، وقال اولمرت pelosi.
Olmert’s suggestions mainly involved continued efforts to isolate the Iranian regime. اولمرت اقتراحات اساسا على مواصلة الجهود الراميه الى عزل النظام الايراني. Olmert proposed two possible courses of action: first, a naval blockade of Iran using the US fleet to limit the movement in and out of Iran of its merchant ships. واقترح اولمرت اثنين من مسارات العمل الممكنة : اولا ، حصارا بحريا من ايران باستخدام اسطول من دولارات الولايات المتحدة للحد من الحركة داخل وخارج ايران من السفن التجارية.
The second option Olmert proposed was to place limitations on Iranian aircraft, business people and senior members of the regime at airports throughout the world. الخيار الثاني كان اولمرت المقترحة لوضع قيود على الطائرة الايرانيه ، ورجال الاعمال وكبار أعضاء النظام في المطارات في جميع انحاء العالم. “Iranian businesspeople who would not be able to land anywhere in the world would pressure the regime,” Olmert said. "من رجال الاعمال الايرانيه لن تكون قادرة على الأرض في أي مكان في العالم من شأنه الضغط على النظام ،" وقال اولمرت.
Members of the American delegation also spoke about how to pressure Iran. أعضاء الوفد الأمريكى وتحدث عن كيفية الضغط على ايران. Pelosi herself said at a press conference Monday that a whole series of moves were on the table to prevent Iran from attaining nuclear status.” Pelosi نفسه وقال في مؤتمر صحافي الاثنين ان سلسلة كاملة من التحرك على الطاوله لمنع ايران من بلوغ الوضع النووى ".
Livni: United front ليفني : الجبهة المتحدة
Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni told Pelosi at a meeting that “the effectiveness of the sanctions depends on a united front by the countries of the world.” Livni added that when there are those who create commercial options for Iran, the efficacy of sanctions was reduced. وزير الخارجية تسيبي ليفني pelosi قال فى اجتماع ان "فعالية الجزاءات يعتمد على تشكيل جبهة موحدة من جانب دول العالم". يفنى واضاف انه عندما تكون هناك من هي تلك الخيارات التجارية لخلق ايران ، فإن فعالية خفض العقوبات. “When Iran sees the foreign minister of Switzerland wearing a veil when she comes to to Ahmadinejad to sign an agreement, it concludes that the world is not united against it,” Livni said. "ايران عندما يرى وزير خارجية سويسرا محجبه عندما يأتي الى أحمدي نجاد الى التوقيع على اتفاق ، ويخلص الى ان العالم ليس ضد الأمم" ، وقالت ليفني.
Olmert is scheduled to fly to Washington in two weeks for another working meeting with Bush that will focus on the Iranian issue. اولمرت ومن المقرر ان يسافر الى واشنطن لمدة اسبوعين في آخر اجتماع عمل مع بوش التي ستركز على مسألة الايرانيه. During Bush’s visit last week, he met with Olmert privately, as well as together with Defense Minister Ehud Barak, to discuss the options for dealing with Iran’s nuclear program. وخلال زيارة بوش الاسبوع الماضي ، اجتمع مع أولمرت من القطاع الخاص ، وكذلك مع وزير الدفاع ايهود باراك ، لمناقشة الخيارات المتاحة للتعامل مع برنامج ايران النووي.
Senior government officials in Jerusalem said they were satisfied with the talks and Bush’s speech in the Knesset on Iran. كبار المسؤولين الحكوميين في القدس وقال انهم كانوا راضين عن المحادثات وخطاب بوش في الكنيست على ايران. They said they believed Bush would make good on his declarations. وقالوا انهم ويعتقد بوش من شأنه أن يجعل حسن على تصريحاته.
Meanwhile, diplomats in Vienna said a new attempt by Mohammed ElBaradei, head of the International Atomic Energy Agency, to probe allegations that Iran tried to make nuclear arms has failed. وفي غضون ذلك ، قال دبلوماسيون في فيينا في محاولة جديدة من جانب محمد البرادعى ، رئيس الوكالة الدولية للطاقة الذريه ، للبحث في ادعاءات بان ايران حاولت ان تجعل الاسلحة النووية قد فشلت. ElBaradei was said to have been hopeful a month ago when he announced a new attempt to investigate allegations that Iran has tried to make atomic arms. وقال البرادعى كان قد تم قبل شهر واحد على الامل عندما اعلن عن محاولة جديدة للتحقيق في الادعاءات القاءله بأن ايران تحاول ان تجعل من الاسلحة الذريه. However, the diplomats told The Associated Press yesterday that Iran denies such activities. ومع ذلك ، فان الدبلوماسيين وأبلغ وكالة أسوشيتد برس أمس ان ايران تنفي هذه الانشطه.
