Jeremiah Wright summarized the difference between him and Obama in his interviews last weekend as, “I do what pastors do. إرميا رأيت تلخيص الفارق بينه وبين واوباما في المقابلات التي اجراها في نهاية الاسبوع الماضي لان "افعل ما يفعل القساوسه. He does what politicians do. وقال انه يفعل ما يفعل السياسيون. I am not running for office.” انا لا الترشح ".

But there is more to it than this. لكن هناك ما هو اكثر لانها اكثر من ذلك.

Rev. Wright is an unapologetic African American preacher who has no hesitation speaking the truth in the best of the religious prophetic tradition. رأيت القس هو غير مستعد لتقديم اعتذار واعظ من الامريكيين من اصل افريقي ولا يتردد تحدث في الحقيقة افضل من التقاليد الدينية النبويه. He uses the word “imperialism.” He talks about “oppressors” and “oppressed” and “God’s desire for a radical change.” He says, accurately, that “you cannot do terrorism on other people and expect it never to come back on you.” وانه يستخدم كلمة "الامبرياليه". انه يتحدث عن "الظالم" و "المظلومين" و "الله رغبة لاجراء تغيير جذري". يقول ، بدقة ، على انه "لا يمكنك ان تفعل الارهاب على شعب آخر ونتوقع ان يأتي أبدا العودة اليكم ".

Barack Obama, as is clear from a close reading of “The Audacity of Hope” and a review of his Democratic Party political career, is all about rising up within the world of the Democratic and Republican parties, the corporate duopoly. باراك اوباما ، كما يتضح من القراءة الدقيقة لل"جراه الامل" واعادة النظر في بلدة الحزب الديمقراطى السياسي الوظيفي ، هو كل شيء عن ارتفاع حتى من داخل العالم الديموقراطي والجمهوري الاطراف ، وشركات الاحتكار الثنائي. And if you are committed to that political world and becoming President through it, it is not surprising that you would do things like whitewash US history, as the quote above does. واذا كنت ملتزمون ان العالم السياسية واصبح الرئيس ومن خلاله ، فإنه من غير المستغرب ان كنت تفعل اشياء مثل تبييض تاريخ الولايات المتحدة ، كما ان الاقتباس اعلاه لا. Genocidal policies toward Indigenous people, the hideous reality of slavery and Jim Crow, the invasion of Mexico and takeover of much of its territory, even the Civil War and Reconstruction: nowhere in Obama’s book does he address these truths of our history. سياسات الاباده الجماعية تجاه السكان الأصليين ، البشعه واقع الرق وجيم غراب ، وغزو المكسيك والاستيلاء على جزء كبير من اراضيها ، بل والحرب الاهليه واعادة الاعمار : في اي مكان في كتاب اوباما لا يأخذ التصدي لهذه الحقائق من تاريخنا.

Obama said at his April 29th press conference where he broke with his pastor of 20 years that, “What became clear to me was that he was presenting a world view that contradicts who I am and what I stand for. وقال اوباما في مكتبه في التاسعه والعشرين نيسان / ابريل مؤتمر صحفى حيث كسر له مع قس من 20 عاما ان "ما اصبح واضحا لي هو أنه كان يقدم يتناقض مع الرأي القائل بأن العالم من وأنا واقف ما ل. And what I think particularly angered me was his suggestion that my previous denunciation of his remarks were somehow political posturing. واعتقد ان ما اغضب وخاصة لي كان اقتراحه ان الانسحاب من تقريري السابق كانت ملاحظاته المواقف السياسية الى حد ما. . . so where I start hearing comments about conspiracy theories and AIDS and suggestions that somehow Minister Farrakhan has been a great voice in the 20th century, then that goes directly at who I am and what I believe this country needs.” أين أبدأ الاستماع الى تعليقات حول نظريات المءامره ومتلازمه نقص المناعه المكتسب والاقتراحات ان وزير farrakhan الى حد كبير وقد صوت في القرن العشرين ، ثم ان من يذهب مباشرة في وانا اعتقد ان هذا ما يحتاج البلد ".

It is true that a handful of statements made by Wright in response to questions from the press at the National Press Club gave them an opening to caricature him as too radical, too out of touch with the US political mainstream, the political mainstream that Obama has been laboring mightily, for years, particularly over the past 16 months, to steer in a somewhat more progressive direction. صحيح ان حفنة من التصريحات التي ادلى بها رايت وردا على اسءله من الصحافة في نادي الصحافة الوطني تمكنهم من فتح لالكاريكاتير عنه جذريه جدا ، بعيدة جدا مع الولايات المتحدة السياسي الرئيسي ، التيار الرئيسي السياسية التي قد اوباما تم العمالي بقوة ، لسنوات ، ولا سيما على مدى السنوات ال 16 شهرا ، الى حد ما في توجيه أكثر تقدميه الاتجاه.

It is also true that, faced with near-certain, continued media attention on the Obama/Wright relationship, Obama needed to address the “worldview” differences between them, which are real. وصحيح ايضا انه في مواجهة مع بعض القريبه ، واصلت وسائل الاعلام الاهتمام على اوباما / رأيت العلاقة ، اوباما اللازمة للتصدي "للعالم" للخلافات بينهما ، والتي هي حقيقية. But was it really necessary for him to use words like these in doing so: “divisive and destructive,” “the spectacle that we saw yesterday,” and “a bunch of rants that aren’t grounded in truth”? ولكن كان من الضروري حقا بالنسبة اليه ان استخدام مثل هذه الكلمات في ذلك : "الانقسام والمدمره" ، و "مشهد التي شهدناها امس ،" و "مجموعة من التشدق التي لا اساس من الصحة"؟

Obama said that “when you start focusing on the plight of the historically oppressed, you lose sight of what we have in common. وقال اوباما ان "عند بدء تشغيل التركيز على محنة المضطهده تاريخيا ، هل يغيب عن بالنا ما لدينا في المشتركة. . . it doesn’t describe properly what I believe, in the power of faith to overcome but also to bring people together.” انه لا يصف بشكل صحيح على ما اعتقد ، في قوة الايمان للتغلب على وانما ايضا لتحقيق التقارب بين البشر. If he truly believes that he’s different in this way than Wright, then he didn’t read all of Wright’s National Press Club speech, or he deliberately discounted major parts of it, like this conclusion: إذا كان حقا يعتقد انه المختلفة ، وبهذه الطريقة مما رأيت ، ثم قال انه لم يقرأ رأيت كل من نادي الصحافة الوطني للكلمة ، او تعمد بأسعار مخفضه الاجزاء الرئيسية ، مثل هذا الاستنتاج :

We retain who we are, as persons of different cultures, while acknowledging that those of other cultures are not superior or inferior to us; they are just different from us. من نحن نحتفظ ، كما الاشخاص من مختلف الثقافات ، وان كان يدرك ان هذه الثقافات الاخرى لا اسمي او ادنى بالنسبة لنا ؛ انها مجرد مختلفة من جانبنا. We root out any teaching of superiority, inferiority, hatred or prejudice. ونحن اجتثاث جذور تدريس اي من التفوق ، والشعور بالنقص او الكراهية او التحامل. And we recognize for the first time in modern history, in the West, that the other who stands before us with a different color of skin, a different texture of hair, different music, different preaching styles and different dance moves; that other is one of God’s children just as we are, no better, no worse, prone to error and in need of forgiveness just as we are. ونحن ندرك لأول مرة في التاريخ الحديث ، في الغرب ، ان من يقف الاخرى المعروضة علينا مع اختلاف لون البشره ، الملمس مختلفة من الشعر ، الموسيقى المختلفة ، واختلاف أساليب الوعظ والرقص مختلف التحركات الاخرى التي هي واحدة من ابناء الله كما نحن ، ليست أفضل ، ولا أسوأ من ذلك ، فهي عرضة للخطأ وفي حاجة الى الاعفاء تماما كما نحن عليه. Barack Obama has made a genuine effort to run a different kind of campaign, one which is more issue-oriented and less about the divisive and dishonest personal attacks that often characterize what passes for “political debate” in this country. باراك اوباما لقد بذلنا جهدا حقيقيا لادارة حملة من نوع مختلف ، واحد اكثر مما هو مسألة التوجه وأقل عن الانقسام غير الشريفه والهجمات الشخصيه التي غالبا ما تتسم بها ما يعبر عن "الحوار السياسي" في هذا البلد. If Obama wins the Democratic nomination and if he wins the Presidency, which I continue to hope he does as the best candidate when compared with Clinton and McCain, we can expect to see more examples of Obama rejecting consistently progressive positions. اذا كان اوباما يفوز في الترشيح والديمقراطيه وان فاز هيئة الرئاسة التي زلت آمل انه لا بوصفه افضل مرشح اذا ما قورنت مع كلينتون وماكين ، يمكننا ان نتوقع ان نرى المزيد من الامثله اوباما رفض باستمرار مواقف تقدميه. Hopefully, he will feel that it is incumbent that he follows through on much of his generally progressive campaign rhetoric and fights for generally progressive government policies. ونأمل ، وقال انه يشعر انه يتعين ان يسير في طريق على كثير من حملة الخطاب التقدمي عموما وتحارب بشكل تدريجي لسياسات الحكومة. But like Jeremiah Wright, we need to be prepared, no matter who is elected President, “November 5th, I’m [we’re] coming after you, because you’ll be representing a government whose policies grind under people.” ولكن مثل ارميا رايت ، اننا بحاجة الى ان نكون على استعداد ، بغض النظر عن من هو الرئيس المنتخب ، "تشرين الثاني / نوفمبر 5th ، انا [نحن] المقبلة بعد لكم ، لأنك سوف يمثل الحكومة فى اطار سياساتها طحن الشعب".

We aren’t going to get it on November 4th, 2008, but if we don’t lose our critical consciousness, if we don’t defend indefensible positions, if we speak truth to power, whether Democrat or Republican, and if we keep working to find the ways to come together into a powerful, grassroots-based, multi-cultural independent progressive movement, we can make progress this year toward that long-term objective. اننا لن نحصل عليها فى الرابع من تشرين الثاني / نوفمبر 2008 ، ولكن اذا كنا لا نفقد الوعي الحرجه ، واذا لم نفعل ذلك للدفاع عن مواقف الدفاع عنه ، واذا كنا نتكلم الحقيقة الى السلطة ، سواء الجمهوري او الديموقراطي ، واذا كنا لا نريد ابقاء العمل على ايجاد السبل الى العمل معا الى قوى الشعبية والقاعده ومتعددة التدريجي الحركة الثقافيه المستقلة ، تمكنا من تحقيق تقدم هذا العام الى ذلك هدفا طويل الاجل.
