The Committee on Oversight and Government Reform demanded the documents from Attorney General Michael B. Mukasey days before former White House press secretary Scott McClellan is expected to testify about Cheney’s role in leaking CIA officer Valerie Plame’s identity to the news media in 2003. لجنة الاشراف واصلاح الحكومة من وثائق وطالب المدعي العام مايكل باء mukasey السابق ايام قبل البيت الابيض سكوت ماكليلان السكرتير الصحفى ومن المتوقع ان تشيني للادلاء بشهادته حول دور وكالة المخابرات المركزية موظف في تسريب هوية فاليري plame الى وسائط الاعلام في عام 2003 .
Committee Chairman Henry A. Waxman, a California Democrat, asked for the transcripts late last year and renewed his request earlier this month after the committee received an unedited transcript of grand jury testimony in which former Cheney aide I. Lewis “Scooter” Libby was quoted as saying it was “possible” that Cheney had told him to leak Plame’s name. رئيس اللجنة هنري أ. Waxman ، الديموقراطي عن كاليفورنيا ، وطلب النسخ اواخر العام الماضي ، وجدد طلبه في وقت سابق من هذا الشهر بعد أن تلقت اللجنة نسخة غير منقحه من هيئة المحلفين الكبرى في الشهاده التي المعاون الاول تشيني السابق لويس "الدراجه الصغيرة" ليبي قوله قوله انه من "الممكن" ان تشيني قد قال له ان تسرب plame اسم.
Waxman said that McClellan’s book, What Happened: Inside the Bush White House and Washington’s Culture of Deception, also raised questions about whether Cheney had directed McClellan to “mislead the public.” وقال ماكليلان ان waxman كتاب ، ما حدث : بوش داخل البيت الابيض في واشنطن وثقافة الخداع ، كما اثار تساؤلات بشان ما اذا كان تشيني قد توجه ماكليلان الى "تضليل الجمهور".
Waxman also wants the unredacted transcripts of FBI interviews with McClellan, former White House political adviser Karl Rove, Libby and Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice. Waxman كما يريد unredacted نسخ من المقابلات التي اجريت مع مكتب التحقيقات الاتحادي ماكليلان ، البيت الأبيض السابق والمستشار السياسي كارل rove ، ليبي وزير الدولة كوندوليزا رايس.
Justice Department spokesman Peter Carr said the department was reviewing the subpoena to determine how to respond. وصرح الناطق باسم وزارة العدل وقال بيتر كار الادارة اعادة النظر في الحضور لتحديد كيفية الاستجابة. Plame’s husband, former Ambassador Joseph Wilson, has accused high-level White House officials of leaking his wife’s identity to retaliate for his criticism of the Iraq war. McClellan, who’s expected to testify Friday before the House Judiciary Committee, renewed questions about the leak with his book. ماكليلان ، من المتوقع الجمعة للادلاء بشهادته امام اللجنة القضاءيه في مجلس النواب ، جدد اسءله حول تسرب مع كتابه. He wrote that Bush and Cheney directed him to “exonerate” Libby in his daily news briefings and that Cheney may have been among the senior White House officials who knew the truth but encouraged the former spokesman “to repeat a lie.” McClellan also contended that Bush told him he had authorized the leak of Plame’s name. انه كتب ان بوش وتشيني الموجهة اليه الى "تبرئة" ليبي في اجتماعات والاخبار اليوميه ان تشيني قد يكون من بين كبار المسئولين فى البيت الابيض من يعرف الحقيقة ولكنه شجع السابق وصرح الناطق باسم "لتكرار كذبة". ماكليلان ايضا انه بوش قال له انه قد إذن للتسرب plame اسم.
Bush said in a 2004 news briefing: “If there’sa leak out of my administration, I want to know who it is. وقال بوش فى تصريحات صحفية عام 2004 : "اذا كان هنالك تسرب من ادارتي ، اريد ان اعرف من هو. If the person has violated law, that person will be taken care of.” اذا كان الشخص قد انتهك القانون ، ان يكون هذا الشخص سوف تتخذ من الرعايه ".
Last week, Principal Deputy Assistant Attorney General Keith Nelson turned down the committee’s request for the FBI reports on Bush and Cheney, saying that the committee’s request “raises serious separation of powers” and confidentiality concerns. في الأسبوع الماضي ، النائب الرئيسى مساعد المدعي العام كيث نيلسون رفضت طلب اللجنة لمكتب التحقيقات الفيدرالى تقارير عن بوش وتشيني ، مشيرا الى ان طلب اللجنة "يثير خطيرة والفصل بين السلطات" وشواغل السرية.
But Waxman said there were “no sound reasons” that the Justice Department couldn’t release the documents. ولكن كانت هناك waxman وقال "لا اسباب وجيهه" ان وزارة العدل لا يمكن الافراج عن الوثائق. He has accused the Justice Department of blocking Fitzgerald from turning over the documents. وقد اتهمت وزارة العدل من عرقلة فيتزجيرالد من تسليم وثائق.
