President Bush heeft een verslag geplaatst dat hij vermoedelijk zou verkiezen om te vermijden: de hoogste afkeuringsclassificatie van om het even welke voorzitter in de 70-jaar geschiedenis van de Gallup Opiniepeiling.
In een genomen Vrijdag van de V.S. TODAY/Gallup Opiniepeiling door Zondag, keuren 28% van Amerikanen de baan Bush goed doen; 69% keuren af. De goedkeuringsclassificatie past het lage punt van zijn voorzitterschap aan, en de afkeuring plaatst een nieuwe hoogte voor om het even welke voorzitter sinds Franklin Roosevelt.
Het vorige verslag van 67% werd bereikt door Harry Truman in Januari 1952, toen de Verenigde Staten in de Koreaanse Oorlog werden verstrikt.
De classificatie van Bush heeft amid „instortend optimisme over de economie verergerd,“ zegt Charles Franklin, een politieke wetenschapper bij de Universiteit van Wisconsin-Madison die presidentiële goedkeuring bestudeert. De het gasprijzen van het verslag en een golf van huisverhinderingen hebben kiezer angst van brandstof voorzien.
Bush houdt ook het verslag voor extreme andere: de hoogste goedkeuringsclassificatie van om het even welke voorzitter in Gallup geschiedenis. In September 2001, in de dagen na de 9/11 aanvallen, spijkerde de goedkeuring van Bush aan 90% vast. In een ander verslag, was het percentage Amerikanen die de invasie van Irak zeggen een fout bereikte een nieuwe hoogte, 63%, in de recentste opiniepeiling.
De beoordelingen van het voorzitterschap van Bush zijn ruw. Door 69%-27%, gekregen zeggen die de ambtstermijn van Bush in het algemeen een mislukking, niet een succes is geweest.
De lage goedkeuringsclassificaties maken het voor voorzitters moeilijker te manoeuvreren, beperkend hun capaciteit om de wetgeving overgegaan te krijgen of kandidaten in congresverkiezingen op te voeren.
De „voorzitter begrijpt oorlog en de vertraging in de economie weegt onderaan de publieke opinie, maar de situatie in Irak verbetert en de economie staat een grote verhoging van het stimuluspakket te krijgen op het punt,“ de bovengenoemde woordvoerder Scott Stanzel van het Witte Huis.
Bush heeft sombere classificaties door het grootste deel van zijn tweede termijn gehad. Zijn goedkeuringsclassificatie heeft zo hoog niet zoals 50% sinds Mei 2005 bereikt. Hij is regelmatig onder 40% sinds September 2006 geweest.
De meningen van Bush verdelen scherp volgens partijlijnen. Onder Republikeinen, keuren goed 66% en 32% keuren af. De afkeuring is bijna universeel - 91% - onder Democraten. Van onafhankelijken, keuren 23% goed, keuren 72% het werk af hij doet.

ReplyBush’s presidency will carry a shame that Americans will bear for years to come. We once could say “who cares” when the rest of the world disagreed and distanced themselves from us. Now, we are weak in every way — morally, financially (dollar at it’s lowest in decades), politically (worldwide). We allowed people to take control of government who promised us everything and hid behind God and the flag. Their hubris and corruption has caused immeasureable pain to much of the world. Can you imagine sending your 18-year old to war? People, these are just babies — they’re just kids — and someone’s kids at that. THE WONDER IS THE REMAINING 28% approval. All I can ask myself is “Really?”

ReplyWhat I also meant to say is that the world has shunned us and will punish us for years to come. We can no longer say “f**k the rest of the world” because they have diminished us to look on from the sidelines. Their refusal to be our silent partner in “democracy building” has caused dollar weakness, American product boycotts, etc. They laugh at President Bush when he comes on their TV’s and they think we are all idiots and fools for electing him — and they are right! For all the billions going into war machinery and making billionaires from war profiteering — just think what we could have done here for the middle class instead…. We’ve built bridges in Iraq after blowing them up (nonsense) and the Bush’s government won’t even help rebuild one collapsed bridge in the U.S. that killed our own people????? The only silver lining is that he only has a few more months in office to cause any more damage. I pray that he doesn’t hear God’s voice any more directing him to wage any further wars.

ReplyBush’s rhetoric “I am the president of war” and welcoming silver spooners at a convention as “The haves and have mores” I wonder how he has any approval rating at all.

I will make this comment very bried . I can only assume that the american public are wising up too being dupped by the president over various reasons towards the ongoing battle in iraq and are sick and tired of seeing their constitutional civil rights being erroded almost on a daily basis , and i cant blame them for feeling let down , after all this is a president who said that THE CONSTITUTIONAL BILL OF RIGHTS was only a PIECE OF PAPER ! . You can only push people so far .
