Brown: To Be More Than an Accessory to War Crimes براون : أكثر من أن تكون شريكا في جرائم الحرب

That is one lesson that could be learned from the series of electoral defeats that mark the end of New Labour’s weightless hegemony. وهذا هو أحد الدروس التي يمكن تعلمها من سلسلة من الهزائم الانتخابية التي احتفال بانتهاء العمل الجديد للهيمنه عديمة الوزن. There is something grotesque about the daily denunciations of Brown by hard-core Blairites in Parliament and their media acolytes, who barely uttered a word of criticism as the country was dragged into two wars and New Labour prettified the Thatcherite social and economic agenda, now calling for the removal of Brown. هناك شيء غريب اليوميه عن التنديد من جانب براون blairites الرئيسية المتشدده في البرلمان والمساعدون وسائل الاعلام ، بالكاد من منطوق كلمة نقد البلد كما هو الانزلاق في حربين والعمل الجديد prettified فان thatcherite الاجتماعية والاقتصادية في جدول الاعمال ، تدعو الآن من اجل ازالة براون. As if his removal and replacement by a robotic Blairite (Miliband senior, Purnell and, amusingly enough, even Milburn is mentioned in this regard) would do the trick. كما لو كان خروجه والاستعاضه عنها blairite الروبوتيه (miliband كبار ، وpurnell ، يقدموا ما يكفي ، حتى milburn يذكر في هذا الصدد) من شأنه ان تفعل الخدعه.
Brown was fully implicated in the New Labour project and funded its hyper-militarism. براون تماما المتورطين في العمل الجديد والمشاريع المموله عن النزعه العسكرية المفرطه. He is too weak to even mimic Zapatero in Spain and Rudd in Australia by withdrawing British troops from Iraq. وقال إنه اضعف من تقليد حتى زاباتيرو في اسبانيا وRudd في استراليا وسحب القوات البريطانية من العراق. The old textile towns were reduced to the status of cemeteries; iron and steelworks had been ploughed to rubble. المدن القديمة النسيج خفضت الى حالة من المقابر ؛ والحديد ومصانع الفولاذ قد محروث الى ركام. The old working class was dead. الطبقة العاملة القديمة كان ميتا. In the transference of class wealth and power, Thatcherism and its neocon New Labour worshippers were eminently successful. في الدرجة انتقال للثروه والسلطة ، thatcherism وneocon العمل الجديد المصلين نجاح بارز. Wealth disparities had increased during the Blair/Brown years. تفاوت الثروة قد زادت خلال بلير / براون سنوات. As railway privatization proved a disaster, New Labour “radicals” were thinking of how the “revolution of choice” could privatize health and education. خصخصه السكك الحديديه وكما ثبت في حالات الكوارث ، والعمل الجديد "المتطرفين" التفكير في كيفية "الثورة من خيار" يمكن ان خصخصه الصحة والتعليم.
From the start New Labour was pledged to consolidate the Thatcherite paradigm rather than offer anything different. ومنذ بداية العمل الجديد وقد تم التعهد من اجل توطيد thatcherite النموذج بدلا من تقديم اي شىء مختلف. Blair’s model was to depoliticize Labour (and the electorate) by preaching against the sin of “ideology” (ie social democracy) in the name of a new, beyond left-and-right, trendy Starbucks-style capitalism. بلير نموذج لنزع الصبغه السياسية على عمل والناخبين) عن طريق الوعظ ضد خطيءه "ايديولوجيه" (اي الديمقراطيه الاجتماعية) في اسم جديد ، أبعد من اليسار واليمين ، بأسلوب عصري ستاربكس الراسماليه. And so it was decreed that Labour should become little more than a British version of the US Democratic Party with cheerleaders and all, though it is more reminiscent of the Republicans. وهكذا كان مرسوما يقضي بأن العمل ينبغي أن يصبح أكثر قليلا من النسخه البريطانية من الحزب الديموقراطي الامريكى مع رؤساء المشجعين وقبل كل شىء ، رغم انه يذكر اكثر من الجمهوريين. Domestically, Brown would aim for fiscal-surplus levels usually only demanded of the Third World, to be ameliorated by a few low-cost anti-poverty measures. على الصعيد المحلي ، من شأنه ان هدف براون - الفائض المالي لمستويات عادة سوى طالب من العالم الثالث ، الى ان تحسن من جانب قلة قليلة التكلفه لتدابير مكافحة الفقر.
While all this was going on there was little opposition within the Labour Party or the major trades unions. وفي حين ان كل ذلك كان يحدث وكان هناك القليل المعارضة داخل حزب العمل او نقابات العمال الرئيسية. As long as they were in power with over-sized, if unrepresentative majorities, the brothers and sisters might grumble a bit in private, but power was what really mattered. طالما كانت في السلطة مع ما يزيد الحجم ، اذا كان غير تمثيلي الاغلبيات ، والاخوة والاخوات قد التذمر قليلا في القطاع الخاص ، ولكن السلطة هي ما يهم حقا. Look at them now as they squeal in anguish at the thought that they might lose their jobs. ننظر اليها الان لانها الصرير في الكرب في الفكر وانهم قد يفقدون وظائفهم. Members of the Cabinet who have helped deregulate the country will find something or the other if the economy doesn’t collapse, but for New Labour cannon-fodder the world outside the bubble offers little hope. اعضاء مجلس الوزراء من وساعدت على تحرير البلاد ستجد شيئا او آخر اذا كان الاقتصاد لا ينهار ، ولكن العمل الجديد للمدفع - الاعلاف العالم خارج الفقاعه العروض سوى امل ضئيل. It’s too late now. فوات الاوان الان. They should accept that the party’s over. وينبغي ان نقبل بأن الحزب قد انتهى. Desperate squabbling to retain power at all costs without any political principle involves will not endear them to the electorate and is unrealistic in any case. الشجار ياءسه الابقاء على السلطة بأي ثمن دون اي نشاط سياسي من حيث المبدأ لن ينطوي عليها حبب الى الناخبين وغير واقعي في اي حال.
As for Gordon Brown, he may be a lame-duck prime minister, but he could still do something decent. اما بالنسبة لغوردون براون ، ويمكن ان يكون بطة عرجاء - رئيس الوزراء ، الا انه لا يزال من الممكن القيام باي شيء لائق. After all, he has nothing to lose now except his job. على كل حال ، ليس عنده أي شيء الآن الا يفقد وظيفته او عمله. He could withdraw British troops from Iraq and Afghanistan and, like the Irish Republic, permit a referendum on the Lisbon Treaty. وقال انه يمكن سحب القوات البريطانية من العراق وافغانستان ، ومثل الجمهورية الايرلنديه ، ان تسمح لاجراء استفتاء بشأن معاهدة لشبونة. Worth remembering that Blair’s massive majorities were the product not of voter enthusiasm but of a winner-takes-all electoral system, which helped to mask the collapse of the Conservatives, the country’s historic party of government. يجدر بنا ان نتذكر ان بلير الاغلبيه الضخمه كانت نتاج عدم الحماس من الناخبين ولكن من الرابح يأخذ كل شيء النظام الانتخابي ، مما ساعد على اخفاء انهيار المحافظين ، البلد التاريخي من طرف الحكومة. The Tory recovery is a sign of how low New Labour has fallen and marks its end. فان الانتعاش المحافظ هو دلالة على كيفية العمل الجديد المنخفض قد سقطت وعلامات نهايتها.
Brown could push through two constitutional measures badly needed at home: a fully elected second chamber and proportional representation. براون قد تدفع عن طريق اثنين في حاجة ماسة لاتخاذ تدابير الدستورية في البيت : انتخاب الغرفة الثانية تماما والتمثيل النسبي. It might help reverse a growing alienation of the young from the political process. انها قد تساعد في عكس اتجاه متزايد للشباب الاغتراب من العملية السياسية. Were he to realize that he owes the country something, he might still make the history books and as more than an accessory to war crimes. وقال انه كان علي ان يدرك انه مدين للالبلد شيئا ، ويعتقد انه ما زال كتب التاريخ واكثر من شريكا في جرائم الحرب.
