President Donald Trump knocked Democrats who have called to “abolish ICE” during his State of the Union address Tuesday.
Trump took time to remember the lives of those killed by illegal immigrants in his speech and took a shot at Democrats, such as New York Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and New York Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, who have campaigned on abolishing Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
For Gillibrand, it was one of the promises she’s made to court the left in her 2020 presidential bid, while Ocasio-Cortez ran on a far-left platform as a democratic socialist.
Trump stated support for ICE is a matter of backing law enforcement.
“We will always support the brave men and women of law enforcement, and I pledge to you tonight that I will never abolish our heroes from ICE. Thank you,” he said, gesturing toward ICE special agent Elvin Hernandez.
