Iranian leaders recently hosted a delegation of leading Palestinian terrorists, affirming the Islamic Republic’s commitment to funding anti-Israel terror groups and sparking consternation on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., and fears that Iran is plotting a renewed wave of terror attacks.

On the heels of the Trump administration announcing its intent to pull U.S. forces out of Syria and Afghanistan—a move celebrated by regional jihadist groups—senior Iranian officials hosted a delegation of leaders from the Palestinian Islamic Jihad group, a State Department-sanctioned terror group that has used Iranian dollars to fund deadly attacks.

Multiple U.S officials tracking the situation—which comes amid waves of uncertainty in the American foreign policy establishment, as Trump pushes forward with a regional withdrawal that would leave Russia and Iran as top powerbrokers—expressed fears that Iran is plotting with its Palestinian terror proxies to launch new waves of attack on the Jewish state.

Iranian-backed Hezbollah militants have been amassing arms on Israel’s northern border, where Iran maintains a significant presence in Lebanon and Syria, and Palestinian militants backed by Tehran have been launching near-daily attacks on Israel’s border with the Hamas-controlled Gaza Strip.
