Britain’s Rail, Maritime and Transport (RMT) Union has threatened to initiate a 24-hour strike on New Year’s Eve that could cause delays and cancellations on some of UK’s main railway lines.
.According to RMT, its members are striking over concerns about rosters, Sunday working and guards on trains. The strike will cause delays and cancellations on South Western Railway and CrossCountry networks.
“We will do everything we can to keep our passengers moving during this unnecessary strike but passengers are warned to check before travelling and be prepared for queues if travelling back from the New Year’s Eve fireworks,” said the managing director of South Western Railway, Andy Mellors.
