British media reports suggest Prince Charles, the first in line of succession to Queen Elizabeth II, has no intention of abdicating power in favor of his sons.
The Daily Star newspaper said Prince Charles’ massive celebration of his 70th birthday last month and the full media coverage that was given to the event was a sign that Charles was ignoring calls that he is too old to become a king and his interventionist style would pose a threat to Britain in future.
The report cited royal family experts as saying that the positive coverage received by Charles for his birthday anniversary may have been at the detriment of his sons William and Harry.
“From my understanding, it seems that there was a push to put Harry and William in their place,” said Lisa Ryan, who covers royal family issues, adding, “Charles is going to be the King, it’s not going to skip over him to William like some outlets have suggested.”
