An American political analyst and activist says it looks like the former US senators are warning of threats to democracy under President Donald Trump as the new Senate prepares for dangerous times ahead.
Myles Hoenig, a former Green Party candidate for Congress, made the remarks in an interview with Press TV on Tuesday after a bipartisan group of 44 former US Democrat and Republican senators warned of threats to America’s democracy under President Trump.
The senators expressed their concern in an open letter for The Washington Post, warning that America was about to enter a “dangerous period” as the probe by Special Counsel Robert Mueller over Trump’s ties to Russia neared its conclusion.
“We are on the eve of the conclusion of special counsel Robert S. Mueller III’s investigation and the House’s commencement of investigations of the president and his administration,” the senators wrote.
