Tuesday’s deadly bombing claimed by Daesh Takfiris in Brussels has given GOP presidential candidate Ted Cruz the chance to promote the party’s Islamophobic narrative by proposing preventive measures in Muslim neighborhoods to stop them “before they become radicalized.”
The Texas senator’s proposal to “patrol and secure” neighborhoods populated by Muslims sparked fury among Democrats, rights activists, and Muslim leaders.
His remarks followed two terrorist attacks in the EU’s de facto capital, which left some 30 people dead.
“We need to empower law enforcement to patrol and secure Muslim neighborhoods before they become radicalized,” Cruz wrote in a statement released by his campaign.”Our European allies are now seeing what comes of a toxic mix of migrants who have been infiltrated by terrorists and isolated, radical Muslim neighborhoods.”
He also added that the US should “secure the southern border to prevent terrorist infiltration.”
