'Multiple fatalities' in Florida mass shooting: Sheriff

Multiple people have been killed in a workplace shooting in Orlando, Florida, law enforcement authorities said.

The Orange County Sheriff’s Office said that the “situation” has been contained, indicating that there was no active shooter on the scene.

“OCSO working shooting scene that has stabilized. Multiple fatalities,” the sheriff’s office posted on Twitter.

The shooting was reported about 8 a.m. Monday in an industrial district of suburban Orlando.

Police said there was no connection to terrorism and that the shooting appeared to be a work-related incident,

No further details were immediately available.

The mass shooting came a week before the first anniversary of the Pulse nightclub shooting in Orlando – the deadliest mass shooting in US history.

Gunman Omar Mateen killed 49 people and injured dozens more at a nightclub in Orlando before being shot dead by police last June.
