A mother and child have been shot in Indianapolis, Indiana, with police confirming the shooter is another young child.
Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department confirmed on Sunday that an adult and child were shot. They added that there was “no immediate threat to the community.”
According to Fox 59, the adult was a mother in her 20s, and the child is understood to be 5-years-old. Both are said to be in a serious condition and have been taken to hospital for treatment.
The age of the child who fired the gun is not known at this stage. It’s also reported the weapon was fired accidentally.
The shooting took place in a residential area, on 1600 block of East 44th Street, at around 8:00 am EST. Police remain at the scene.
