Former US First Lady Michelle Obama vows to stay clear of politics

Former US First Lady Michelle Obama has stated that she would stay away from political office in the future. This is her first public appearance since the Obamas left the White House in late January.

Speaking at the America Institute of Architecture convention in Orlando, Florida, she said that being in the White House had been tough on her family and she would never wish for her children to have to tolerate such hardships again, media reported on Friday.

“It’s good to get out of the [White] House,” she said, adding, “It’s good to not have the weight of the world upon your shoulders.”

The image projected by the White House is negative and people [white racists] “thought I was the devil,” she said.

Since leaving office more than three months ago, former President Barack Obama and Michelle Obama, who currently live in Washington, have steered clear of politics and a barrage of accusations issued by the Trump administration.
