On Monday night, Melania Trump was a not-so-subliminal billboard for what’s looking like the Trumpian view of an ideal America. And if that’s the fashion statement she intended to make, it’s a very scary one.
Melania didn’t get the memo on the “white dress micro-agression” thing, because she recently wore a Calvin Klein white dress when she entertained Akie Abe in a Japanese Garden Tour. Wow… her brazen racism knows no bounds. However, according to the Washington Examiner, Democratic women decided to collectively wear white to President Trump’s speech so they could send a political message. Was their message one of racism, hatred, and polarization, too?
In a statement, Rep. Lois Frankel, D-Fla., said they will be wearing white to “unite against any attempts by the Trump administration to roll back the incredible progress women have made in the last century.”
Frankel chairs the Democratic Women’s Working Group, which said their commitment to women’s rights includes affordable healthcare and Planned Parenthood, equal pay, paid sick and family leave, affordable child care, secure retirement and “lives free from fear and violence.”
