Cruz only 3 points below Trump, national poll shows

US Republican Candidate Ted Cruz is only three points behind billionaire real estate mogul Donald Trump, a new poll shows.

According to the NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll released Tuesday, the Texas senator has 27 percent support while Trump leads at 30 percent.

The survey results were released as US voters went to polls in Mississippi and Michigan. Republican voters were also casting ballots in Idaho and Hawaii to choose their candidates for the presidential race.

“Tuesday’s results show a tightening in the GOP field overall, with 10 points separating all GOP candidates,” the Hill said its report covering the poll results.

Florida Senator Marco Rubio comes fourth with 20 percent right below Ohio Governor John Kasich with 2 percent more.
