Clinton team to partake in Wisconsin recount, possible future ones

The campaign of Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton will be participating in a recount of votes set to take place in the battleground state of Wisconsin, which she narrowly lost in the US 2016 presidential election.

The recount has been requested by Green Party nominee Jill Stein but the Clinton campaign counsel, Marc Elias, said Saturday that her team would be legally represented in Wisconsin to be able to monitor the recount.

Democrats did not ask for a recount in the state because their own investigation did not lead to any sign of hacking of voting systems, “but now that a recount has been initiated in Wisconsin, we intend to participate in order to ensure the process proceeds in a manner that is fair to all sides.”

Along with Michigan and Pennsylvania, Wisconsin played a key role on Election Day resulting in victory by GOP nominee Donald Trump.
