74 Killed in Iraq; ISIS Mutilates Its Own for Desertion

On Saturday, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan
vowed that
Turkish troops
will participate in operation against the Islamic State
militants in Mosul, and no party will be able to prevent them. The threat came
as the Turkish Parliament voted
to extend a mandate for troops to remain deployed in Iraq and Syria.

At least 74 people were killed and 25 more were wounded
in recent violence:

A woman
was executed
in Albu Fahed for trying to escape militant territory.

Seventy militants
were killed
during operations in Hud.

Resistance forces killed three militants
in Salman.

Dozens of militants were killed
in Albu Rathe.

In Mosul, militants mutilated 25 of their
for desertion. The men were warned that more would be cut off if
they abandoned the battlefields again. In the past, however, ISIS/Daesh has
executed fighters for fleeing the flight. With the battle against Mosul
looming, perhaps they can no longer afford to kill off their own.
