46 Killed in Executions and Fresh Attacks in Iraq

In the wake of the massive suicide bombing
in Karrada last night, Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi ordered
security forces to cease using bomb detectors that have never worked. The
premier visited the attack site, but as he left his convoy was pelted
with numerous objects.

Although Shi’ite militias promised not to enter Fallujah,
they broke their promise and appear to be remaining
there, even though fighting has ended. Looting has, so far, been limited.
However, their continued presence is likely to keep residents from returning.

Hundreds of families have returned to Jalawla
in recent days.

At least 46 were killed:

In Hawija, militants executed
seven civilians
. They also executed
eight of their own

Militants executed
a former pilot and his son
, also in the military, in Arabi.

A bomb killed
a civilian
in Latifiya.

Gunmen in Muqdadiya killed
a civilian

In Tuz Khormato, a civilian
was shot dead
. A suicide
killed a number of people.

A bomb killed
a tribal fighter
in Sherwin.

Security forces killed 29
in Makhmour.

In Mosul, unidentified gunmen killed
three senior militants

Al-Qaeda militants have reportedly killed
a Daesh militant and his son
near Baquba.

Airstrikes on Qayara killed
a number of militants.
