Protest near Birmingham ‘closes factory for Israel drones’

A pro-Palestinian demonstration in the UK has shut down a factory near Birmingham, which makes drones for Israel, reports say.

Hundreds of pro-Palestinian activists along with other protesters rallied around the UAV Engines plant at Shenstone, near Lichfield, north of Birmingham on Monday and occupied the road of the Elbit factory there, a Press TV correspondent reported.

The demonstrators demanded the plant’s shutdown.

Meanwhile, local media said the campaigners draped a banner saying, “This factory is closed” on the site’s gates.

Police were also on the scene.

The same factory was occupied in a two-day protest last August.

It was targeted again to mark the first anniversary of what the ‘Block the Factory’ organization called Israel’s “attack” on Gaza, the Birmingham Mail reported.
