Identity Politics in Climate Change Hell سياسات الهوية في تغير المناخ الجحيم

If you want a glimpse of how the movement against climate change could crumble faster than a summer snowflake, read Ewa Jasiewicz’s article, published yesterday on the Guardian’s Comment is Free site(1). اذا كنت تريد لمحة عن كيفية حركة ضد تغير المناخ يمكن ان تنهار في الصيف اسرع من الثلج ، إيوا jasiewicz قراءة مقاله ، الذي نشر أمس على الوصي التعليق الحرة الموقع (1). It is a fine example of the identity politics that plagued direct action movements during the 1990s, and from which the new generation of activists has so far been mercifully free. انه مثال رائع للسياسات الهوية التي يعاني منها العمل المباشر لحركات خلال التسعينات ، والتي من الجيل الجديد من الناشطين حتى الآن الحظ الحرة.
Ewa rightly celebrates the leaderless, autonomous model of organising that has made this movement so effective. ايوا بحق يحتفل بلا قائد ، ونموذج الحكم الذاتي للتنظيم التي جعلت من هذه الحركة حتى فعالة. Climate camp is a tribute to the anarchist politics that Jasiewicz supports. المناخ المخيم يعتبر تحية للالفوضوي jasiewicz ان تؤيد السياسة.
But in seeking to extrapolate from this experience to a wider social plan, she makes two grave errors. ولكن في السعي لاستقراء من هذه التجربه لخطة اجتماعية أوسع ، وقالت انها تجعل من اثنين من الاخطاء الخطيره. The first is to confuse ends and means. الاول ، هو الخلط بين الغايات والوسائل. She claims to want to stop global warming, but she makes that task 100 times harder by rejecting all state and corporate solutions. وتدعي انها تريد لوقف الاحترار العالمى ، ولكنها تجعل هذه المهمة اصعب 100 مرة من قبل الدولة ورفض جميع الحلول للشركات. Stopping runaway climate change must take precedence over every other aim. الهاربون وقف تغير المناخ يجب ان تكون لها الاسبقيه كل هدف. Everyone in this movement knows that there is very little time: the window of opportunity in which we can prevent two degrees of warming is closing fast. الجميع في هذه الحركة تعرف ان هناك القليل جدا من الوقت : نافذة الفرصة التى يمكننا منع درجتين من الاحترار يقفل بسرعة. We have to use all the resources we can lay hands on, and these must include both governments and corporations. يتعين علينا استخدام جميع الموارد التي يمكن ان وضع اليد على ، وهذه يجب ان تشمل كل من الحكومات والشركات. Or perhaps she intends to build the installations required to turn the energy economy around – wind farms, wave machines, solar thermal plants in the Sahara, new grid connections and public transport systems – herself? او ربما لانها تنوي بناء المنشآت اللازمة لتحويل الطاقة والاقتصاد في جميع انحاء -- مزارع الرياح ، موجة الآلات والمصانع الحراريه الشمسيه في الصحراء ، شبكة وصلات جديدة وشبكات النقل العام -- نفسه؟
Her article is a terryifying example of the ability some people have to put politics first and facts second when confronting the greatest challenge humanity now faces. هي المادة هو terryifying مثلا من قدرة بعض الناس لوضع السياسة الاولى والثانية والحقائق عند مواجهة التحدي الاكبر الذي يواجه البشريه الآن. The facts are as follows. الحقائق هي كما يلي. Runaway climate change is bearing down on us fast. الهاربون تغير المناخ ، وإذ تضع في اسفل لنا بسرعة. We require a massive political and economic response to prevent it. نحن بحاجة الى واسع النطاق السياسي والاقتصادي وردا على الحؤول دون وقوعها. Governments and corporations, whether we like it or not, currently control both money and power. الحكومات والشركات ، سواء احببنا ذلك ام لا ، على حد سواء في الوقت الحالي السيطرة على المال والسلطة. Unless we manage to mobilise them, we stand a snowball’s chance in climate hell of stopping the collapse of the biosphere. ما لم ننجح في حشد لهم ، ونحن نقف كرة الثلج الف فرصة في مناخ من جحيم وقف انهيار المحيط الحيوي. Jasiewicz would ignore all these inconvenient truths because they conflict with her politics. Jasiewicz تجاهل كل هذه الحقائق غير مناسبة لانها تتعارض مع سياسة بلدها.
“Changing our sources of energy without changing our sources of economic and political power”, she asserts, “will not make a difference. All this must take place within a couple of months, as there is so little time in which we could prevent two degrees of warming. كل هذا يجب ان يتم في غضون شهرين ، حيث ان هناك الا القليل في الوقت الذي نحن يمكن ان تحول دون درجتين من الاحترار. This is magical thinking of the most desperate kind. وهذا هو التفكير السحري من اكثر ياءسه النوع. If I were an executive of E.On or Exxon, I would be delighted by this political posturing, as it provides a marvellous distraction from our real aims. واذا كان لي احد كبار الموظفين الاداريين على هاء أو اكسون ، سأكون مسرور من جانب هذه المواقف السياسية ، لانه يوفر رائع الهاء الاهداف الحقيقية من وجهة نظرنا.
To support her argument, Jasiewicz misrepresents what I said at climate camp. هي لدعم هذه الحجه ، jasiewicz يحرف ما قلته في المناخ المخيم. She claims that I “confessed not knowing where to turn next to solve the issues of how to generate the changes necessary to shift our sources of energy, production and consumption”. وتدعي أن الأول "واعترف الذين لا يعرفون الى اين انتقل الى حل للقضايا وكيفية توليد التغييرات اللازمة للتحول الى مصادر الطاقة لدينا والانتاج والاستهلاك". Instead I confessed that I don’t know how to solve the problem of capitalism without resorting to totalitarianism. وبدلا من ان اعترف انني لا اعرف كيفية حل هذه المشكلة من دون اللجوء الى الراسماليه الشموليه.
The issue is that capitalism involves lending money at interest. والمساله هي ان هذا ينطوي على اقراض الاموال الراسماليه في المصالح. If you lend at 5%, then one of two things must happen. اذا كنت تقدم في 5 ٪ ، ثم على احد امرين يجب ان يحدث. Either the money supply must increase by 5% or the velocity of circulation must increase by 5%. أما عرض النقود يجب ان تزيد بنسبة 5 ٪ او سرعة تداول يجب ان تزيد بنسبة 5 ٪. In either case, if this growth is not met by a concomitant increase in the supply of goods and services, it becomes inflationary and the system collapses. وفي كلتا الحالتين ، اذا كان هذا النمو لم يتم الوفاء بها ما يصاحب ذلك زيادة في المعروض من السلع والخدمات ، يصبح من التضخم وانهيار النظام. But a perpetual increase in the supply of goods and services will eventually destroy the biosphere. ولكن دائما زيادة في المعروض من السلع والخدمات في نهاية المطاف تدمير المحيط الحيوي. So how do we stall this process? حتى كيف يمكننا ان المماطله في هذه العملية؟ Even when usurers were put to death and condemned to perpetual damnation, the practice couldn’t be stamped out. وحتى عندما كان المرابون نفذ فيهم حكم الاعدام وادانة ابدية لالإدانة ، فإن هذه الممارسه لا يمكن دمغ بها. Only the communist states managed it, through the extreme use of the state control Ewa professes to hate. الا انها تمكنت من الدول الشيوعيه ، من خلال استخدام اقصى للسيطره الدولة ايوا يصرح الى الكراهية. I don’t yet have an answer to this conundrum. انا لا تملك حتى الان اجابة لهذا اللغز. Does she? وقالت انها لا؟
Yes, let us fight both corporate power and the undemocratic tendencies of the state. نعم ، ولنكافح من سلطة الشركات على حد سواء واتجاهات غير ديمقراطيه للدولة. Yes, let us try to crack the problem of capitalism and then fight for a different system. نعم ، دعونا نحاول مشكلة الكراك للراسماليه وبعد ذلك الكفاح من اجل نظام مختلف. But let us not confuse this task with the immediate need to stop two degrees of warming, or allow it to interfere with the carbon cuts that have to begin now. ولكن دعونا لا نخلط هذه المهمة مع حاجة فورية لوقف الاحترار من درجتين ، او يتيح لها ان تتداخل مع التخفيضات التي الكربون ان تبدأ الآن.
Ewa’s second grave error is to imagine that society could be turned into a giant climate camp. ايوا الثاني هو خطأ فادح ان نتصور ان المجتمع يمكن تحويلها الى عملاق المناخ المخيم. Anarchism is a great means of organising a self-elected community of like-minded people. الفوضى كبيرة هو وسيلة للتنظيم الذاتي للمجتمع من المنتخبين المتشابهه الناس. It is a disastrous means of organising a planet. وهي كارثه وسائل تنظيم كوكب. Most anarchists envisage their system as the means by which the oppressed can free themselves from persecution. معظم الفوضويون تصور نظام الحكم كما الوسائل التي يمكن ان المظلوم تحرير انفسهم من الاضطهاد. But if everyone is to be free from the coercive power of the state, this must apply to the oppressors as well as the oppressed. ولكن إذا كان لكل انسان في ان يتحرر من السلطة القسريه للدولة ، وهذا يجب ان تنطبق على الطغاه فضلا عن المقهورين. The richest and most powerful communities on earth – be they geographical communities or communities of interest – will be as unrestrained by external forces as the poorest and weakest. أغنى وأقوى الجماعات على الارض -- سواء كانت جغرافيه او المجتمعات المحلية التي تهم المجتمعات المحلية -- سيكون على ما غير المقيد من جانب القوى الخارجية كما أفقر وأضعف. As a friend of mine put it, “when the anarchist utopia arrives, the first thing that will happen is that every Daily Mail reader in the country will pick up a gun and go and kill the nearest hippy.” كصديق للوضع الالغام ، "عندما يصل الفوضوي الطوباويه ، ان اول شيء سيحدث هو ان كل قارئ البريد الالكتروني اليوميه فى البلاد سوف يلتقط بندقيه وتذهب وتقتل اقرب الهبي".
This is why, though both sides furiously deny it, the outcome of both market fundamentalism and anarchism, if applied universally, is identical. وهذا هو السبب ، رغم ان كلا الجانبين بشراسه ينكر ذلك ، فان نتائج كل من الاصوليه والفوضى في السوق ، اذا كان يطبق على نحو شامل ، مطابق. The anarchists associate with the oppressed, the market fundamentalists with the oppressors. الفوضويون المنتسبين مع المظلوم ، فان السوق الاصوليين مع الطغاه. But by eliminating the state, both remove such restraints as prevent the strong from crushing the weak. ولكن عن طريق القضاء على الدولة ، وازالة أية قيود على حد سواء كما منع القوى من سحق الضعيف. Ours is not a choice between government and no government. ليس لنا خيار بين الحكومة وليس الحكومة. It is a choice between government and the mafia. انه اختيار بين الحكومة والمافيا.
Over the past year I have been working with groups of climate protesters who have changed my view of what could be achieved. وخلال العام الماضى لقد ناقشت مع مجموعات من المحتجين من المناخ قد غيرت رأيي ما يمكن تحقيقه. Most of them are under 30, and they bring to this issue a clear-headedness and pragmatism that I have never encountered in direct action movements before. إن معظم هذه الشركات في اطار 30 ، ويقدمونها لهذه المساله واضحة وواقعيه - headedness ان أكون قد واجهت أبدأ في العمل المباشر الحركات من قبل. It would be a tragedy if, through the efforts of people like Ewa, they were to be diverted from this urgent task into the identity politics that have wrecked so many movements. وستكون ماساه اذا ، من خلال جهود اشخاص مثل ايوا ، كان لا بد من تحويل هذه المهمة العاجلة الى سياسات الهوية التي دمرت العديد من الحركات.
