there is no problem with that he cant own his own shotgun until he reaches the age of 17, and until he reaches the age of 15 he will have to be supervised be someone over the age of 21. giving the 9 year old boy a shotgun certificate only says by law he can shot a shotgun not that he can own his own gun or go out shooting unsupervised. |

I can see nothing wrong with that as long as he is supervised. My Son who is 8 goes beating and would like to shoot in the future. |

It is perfectly fine for the nine year old to own and use a shot gun as long as if it complies to the law, which it does, and IF AND ONLY IF the child uses it under close supervision in a safe and enclosed area.
