Is Amsterdam turning into a prudish backwater? هي امستردام وانتقل الى المعزل محتشم؟
By بواسطة Frank Scimone فرانك scimone | The owners of cafés in the centre of Amsterdam are again up in arms against what they say is the umpteenth attempt to turn the city into a prudish provincial backwater. | اصحاب المقاهي في وسط امستردام مرة اخرى في استخدام السلاح ضد ما يقولون الاخير هو محاولة لتحويل المدينة الى المعزل محتشم المقاطعات.
A majority of the Amsterdam district council ‘Amsterdam Centrum’ have voted in favour of a measure that would forbid customers from sitting outside on a terrace past midnight. اغلبيه من مجلس مقاطعة امستردام 'امستردام Centrum' قد صوتت لصالح اي تدبير من شأنه ان سمح للعملاء من الجلوس خارج على شرفه بعد منتصف الليل. A Dutch newspaper says the centre of Amsterdam is moving another step towards becoming a ‘Staphorst on the Amstel’. أ تقول الصحيفة الهولنديه امستردام المركز يتحرك خطوة اخرى نحو ان تصبح 'Staphorst على amstel'. Staphorst is considered the most strict and devout Calvinist town in the Netherlands. Staphorst الذي يعتبر الاكثر صارمه والملتزمين مدينة الكالفيني في هولندا.
Council ruling المجلس الحاكم
Previously the district council ruled that customers cannot drink while standing. سبق ان حكمت مجلس المقاطعه إن العملاء لا يمكن أن يشرب في حين الداءمه. The free newspaper De Pers quotes an owner of a pub in Amsterdam, who says with a deep sigh: الحر دي pers ونقلت الصحيفة عن صاحب حانه في امستردام ، مع من يقول عميق التنهده :
“Now we’ll have to hire an extra employee to act as a sort of police officer who will walk around seeing to it that customers don’t drink while standing. "سنقوم الان تنطوي على توظيف موظف اضافي ليكون بمثابة نوع من ضابط شرطة من المشي حول سوف التأكد من أن الزبائن لا تشرب بينما الداءمه. They will also have to ensure that customers are gone (from the terrace) by midnight… when they’d rather sit there until four.” Earlier, the council ruled that outside terraces cannot be heated because it is a waste of energy and hence environmentally unfriendly. وهي ايضا لضمان أن العملاء من ذهب (من الشرفه (… بحلول منتصف الليل عندما تريد بدلا من الجلوس هناك حتى اربعة. "في وقت سابق ، ان حكم المجلس خارج المدرجات لا يمكن ان يكون ساخنا لانه هو مضيعه للطاقة وبالتالي بيئيا غير ودي.
Conflict with businesses الصراع مع المؤسسات التجارية
In recent years the district council, which was founded in 2002, has come into conflict with the owners of pubs, cafés and nightclubs as well as members of the gay community who say that a mania for rules and regulations is making Amsterdam prudish, provincial and boring. في السنوات الأخيرة مجلس المقاطعه الذى تأسس فى عام 2002 ، ظهرت الى حيز الصراع مع اصحاب الحانات والمقاهي والنوادي الليليه وكذلك افراد من المجتمع مثلي الجنس من القول إن الهوس لقواعد وانظمة وتبذل امستردام محتشم ، والمقاطعات ممل.
The district council has also been criticised for ordering the closure of 150 terraces, banning the construction of new hotels and organising fewer events. مجلس المقاطعه قد تعرضت للنقد أيضا لاصدار أمر اغلاق 150 المدرجات ، وحظر بناء فنادق جديدة وتنظيم عدد اقل من الاحداث.
“Cleaning up” the Red Light District "تنظيف" منطقة الضوء الاحمر
The Amsterdam City Council is also in the process of “cleaning up” the city. مجلس مدينة امستردام هو ايضا في عملية "تنظيف" المدينة. Permits for a large numbers of rooms in the Red Light District, where prostitutes stand behind windows, are being rescinded. تراخيص لعدد كبير من الغرف في منطقة الضوء الاحمر ، حيث البغايا تقف وراء النوافذ ، يجري الغاؤها.
The rooms are being turned into fashion shops and the women replaced by mannequins in designer clothes. الغرف ويجري تحويلها الى محلات الأزياء والاستعاضه عن النساء العارضات في الازياء المصممه. Recently the town council ordered the closure of the famous sex club Yab Yum as well as the live-sex theatre Casa Rosso . المجلس البلدي في الاونة الاخيرة وامرت باغلاق الشهير الجنس نادي yab yum فضلا عن الجنس ويعيش المسرح كأسا روسو.
One website which has collected thousands of signatures protesting against the council’s policies writes: موقع واحد والتي جمعت الآلاف من التوقيعات احتجاجا على سياسات المجلس كتب ما يلي :
“This is where Rembrandt rose to fame, Michiel de Ruyter departed for his epic journeys, the great author Descartes wrote his best works and (besides Paris) the first city to erect lights…we were then progressive. "هذا هو المكان ريمبراندت ارتفع ليصل الى الشهره ، ميشيل دى Ruyter غادر بلده لملحمة الرحلات ، الكبير ديكارت المؤلف مذكراته من افضل اعمال و(الى جانب باريس) اول مدينة لبناء مصنع للاضواء… ونحن بعد ذلك تدريجيا. Now…our city seems more like a provincial village than one with the allure of an international metropolis…The beautiful vibrant city centre is being literally paralysed. الآن… مدينتنا يبدو وكأنه اكثر المقاطعات من قرية واحدة مع الجاذبية دولي للعاصمة الجميلة… نابضه بالحياة وسط المدينة ويجرى حرفيا بالشلل. A city is a city with all of its achievements, as well as its bad habits…When someone moves to the country he can’t ask for a ban on fertiliser, roosters and mooing… Amsterdam should remain Amsterdam. المدينة هي المدينة مع جميع من انجازاتها ، فضلا عن العادات السيءه… واذا كان شخص ما ينتقل الى البلاد وقال انه لا يمكن ان يطلب من أجل فرض حظر على الاسمدة ، والديكه الخور… ينبغي ان تظل امستردام امستردام. A fantastic place where for centuries freedom and individual development have been of paramount importance.” راءعه المكان لعدة قرون الفرديه والحرية والتنمية قد جرى ذات اهمية قصوى. "

I used to be a regular visitor until 2003. وكنت انتظر أن يكون الزائر العاديه حتى عام 2003. That’s when I realised the old place was dying from this right-wing upsurge in regulation and pomposity. هذا هو عندما ادركت القديمة المكان الذي كان يموتون من جراء هذا الارتفاع المفاجئ من الجناح اليميني في التنظيم والتفاخم. I haven’t been back since but I have watched from afar. أنا لم تكن العودة منذ لكن لا بد لي ان يشاهد من بعيد. Yes it is turning and has been for quite a while. نعم إنها تحول وكان لفترة طويلة.
