I write in connection with the police operation surrounding the President George W Bush to Downing Street today. أكتب فيما يتعلق عملية الشرطة المحيطة بها الرئيس جورج دبليو بوش لاسقاط الشارع اليوم. I am not a habitual complainer about the police, as a scan of the public record and my history of cooperation with Tower Hamlets police and the Muslim Support Unit will quickly show. وانا لست المعتاد المتذمر عن الشرطة ، الى اجراء مسح السجل العام وتاريخ بلادي للتعاون مع تاور هاملتس الشرطة ودعم وحدة المسلمين لن تظهر بسرعة. But I must say I witnessed scenes today, some of them inches from my face, which were both deeply shocking and completely unnecessary. ولكن لا بد لي من القول انني شهدت المشاهد اليوم ، وبعضهم من بوصة من وجهي ، التي كانت على حد سواء عميق للصدمة وغير ضروريه تماما.
I was asked by the chairman of the Stop the War Coalition as the only member of parliament present at the demonstration in Parliament Square to march to the police barricade in Whitehall symbolically to demonstrate the outrageousness of the government’s decision to forbid marchers to enter Whitehall . وقد سئلت من قبل رئيسا للتحالف وقف الحرب فقط باعتبارها عضوا في البرلمان الحالي في التظاهره الى ساحة البرلمان في اذار / مارس الى حاجز للشرطة في وايتهول رمزيا لاظهار الافراط من قرار الحكومة منع دخول المسيره وايتهول . As one of the leaders of the Stop the War Coalition I felt it was my duty to comply with his request, although it was Fathers Day, I had my children with me and had intended to leave Parliament Square shortly after my speech. وكما قال احد قادة من التحالف وقف الحرب شعرت انه كان واجبي ان الامتثال لطلبه ، رغم انه كان الآباء في اليوم ، كان لي اولادي معي وكان ينوي مغادرة ساحة البرلمان بعد وقت قصير من خطابي.
I made my way to the front of the putative march and purely by chance found myself in the hottest spot of the confrontation which followed. ادليت به في طريقي الى الجبهة putative من اذار / مارس وبالصدفه البحته وجدت نفسي في بقعة أحر من المواجهة التي تلت. I was trapped there for the best part of an hour and a half, unable to move forward, back or sideways. كنت المحاصرين هناك للحصول على أفضل جزء من ساعة ونصف الساعة ، غير قادر على المضي قدما ، او العودة جانبية. Consquently, I was both closer to and for longer exposed to the events as they unfolded. Consquently ، كنت اقرب الى كل من لفترة اطول ويتعرضون لاحداث كما تكشفت.

These were not hardened trouble-makers they were facing who’d come for a fight with the police. هذه ليست متصلبه المشاغبين كانوا يواجهون من تريد حان لمعركة مع الشرطة. They were young, peaceful, allbeit frustrated and angry anti-war protesters. كانوا من الشباب ، السلميه ، allbeit بالغضب من المحتجين المناهضين للحرب. You will know that there has never been any trouble on the score of Stop the War marches that London has scene hitherto. انت تعرف ان لم يكن هناك اي مشكلة على درجة من وقف الحرب المسيرات التي لندن في الساحة حتى الآن. One particular officer, I will not give his number at this stage as I intend to make a formal complaint about his conduct and I am releasing this letter to the press, was quite simply out of control. موظف واحد ، وانا لن يقدم كل ما لديه عدد في هذه المرحلة كما اعتزم تقديم شكوى رسمية عن سلوكه وانا على الافراج عن هذه الرسالة إلى الصحافة ، بكل بساطة خرجت عن نطاق السيطرة. He assaulted a young woman; he deployed his metal baton in a frenzied way; he ripped placards from the hands of several demonstrators when I can assure you the demonstrators in question were not using these cardboard placards in any improper way. وقال انه اعتداء فتاة في مقتبل العمر ؛ وقال انه نشر تقريره عصا معدنيه الجنوني في طريقه ؛ لافتات وقال انه ممزق من أيدي العديد من المتظاهرين عندما استطيع ان اؤكد لكم المتظاهرين في هذه المساله ليست في استخدام هذه الكرتون في اي لافتات بطريقة لاءقه. He was standing next to a sergeant, whose number I also have, who if he tesitfies truthfully will bear out what I am saying. كان واقفا بجوار رقيب ، والذين يصل عددهم لدي ايضا ، اذا كان من tesitfies سوف تشهد بصدق ما أقول.
A senior officer - I could see no identifying number, but I know he was senior because he was giving out orders - was actually taunting the demonstrators, including me in a display of political partiality such as I have never witnessed. احد كبار الضباط -- انا انظر لا يمكن تحديد العدد ، وانما اعرف انه كان من كبار لانه كان يعطي الأوامر -- بالفعل التعنيف المتظاهرين ، بينهم لي في عرض مثل التحيز السياسي ولقد شهد ابدا.
But the most serious mistake is one I believe you have a duty toinvestigate, and that was the tactical decision to deploy the black-boiler-suited riot squad - when there was clearly no riot. ولكن اخطر خطأ واحد واعتقد ان لديك واجب toinvestigate ، وهذا هو قرار تكتيكي لنشر السوداء - المراجل مناسبة لمكافحة الشغب -- عندما يكون هناك من الواضح عدم والشغب. Given the small number of demonstrators involved - far less than the number of revellers on an ordinary Friday night in Romford - it was an unnecessary and provocative overreaction and served as nothing other than a provocation compounding the protesters’ feelings about the denial of what they and I regard as their rights as citizens in a free country. ونظرا لصغر عدد من المتظاهرين المشاركين -- اقل بكثير من عدد revellers عادية على ليل الجمعة السبت في romford -- كان مبالغا استفزازيه وغير ضروريه ، كما انه شغل منصب سوى استفزاز المتظاهرين مما يضاعف من مشاعر ازاء انكار ما و اعتبرها حقوقهم كمواطنين في بلد حر.
This squad behaved intolerably. هذا تصرف فرقة لا يطاق. It was as if they were facing a dangerous crowd of molotov cocktail throwing, pike wielding insurrectionists. وكان كما لو كانوا يواجهون خطرا حشد من القاء زجاجة حارقة ، شاهرا البيك insurrectionists. It was a scene redolent of the Troubles in Northern Ireland and cannot possibly be justified by the scale of this incident. هو كان مشهد براءحه من الاضطرابات في ايرلندا الشمالية ولا يمكن ان تبرر حجم هذا الحادث. This squad proceeded to deal out a shocking level of violence against unarmed civilan protesters, overwhelmingly young and many of them female. وشرع هذه الفرقة لمعالجة وضع المروع في مستوى العنف ضد المتظاهرين غير المسلحين civilan ، والاغلبيه الساحقه من الشباب وكثير منهم من الاناث. I have no doubt the large number of press photographers present and taking pictures of the scenes will bear this out. ولا يساورني ادنى شك في عدد كبير من المصورين هذا واخذ صور لمشاهد وسوف يضع هذا الامر.
This was not the Metropolitan Police’s finest hour, Commissioner. ولم يكن هذا هو شرطة العاصمة اروع ساعة ، مفوض. It was a sledgehammer to crack a nut and did harm to the reputation of your officers and their commanders, and I believe you have a duty to investigate it. وكان مطرقه الثقيلة الى كراك أ البندق وتسببوا في الاساءه لسمعة المكتب الخاص بك وقادتهم ، واعتقد ان لديك واجب لتحقق فيه.
