Massive earthquake in China kills at least 10,000 الزلزال الهائل فى الصين بحياة ما لا يقل عن 10.000
By بواسطة John Chan جون تشان | At least 10,000 people were killed when an earthquake of 7.8 magnitude on the Richter scale hit the south-western Chinese province of Sichuan at 2:28 pm on Monday. | لا يقل عن 10000 شخص لقوا مصرعهم عندما ضرب زلزال من حجم 7،8 درجة على مقياس ريختر ضرب جنوب غرب مقاطعة سيشوان الصينية فى الساعة 2:28 يوم الاثنين. The death toll is climbing continuously as bodies are pulled from the rubble of buildings and rescue workers arrive at new scenes of devastation. حصيله القتلى باستمرار وكما هو تسلق الهيئات يتم سحبها من انقاض المباني وعمال الانقاذ وصول جديدة في مشاهد من الدمار.
Tremors rocked other parts of China including in Beijing and Shanghai that are thousands of kilometres from Sichuan. هزات هزت اجزاء اخرى من الصين بما فى ذلك بكين وشنغهاي التي هي بعد آلاف الكيلومترات من سيشوان. At least 300 deaths have been reported in three neighbouring provinces. على الاقل 300 حالة وفاة قد ذكرت في ثلاث مقاطعات مجاورة. Even residents in Thailand and Vietnam were forced to evacuate as buildings shook. وحتى المقيمين في تايلاند وفيتنام واضطر لاخلاء المباني كما هزت.
The impact of the quake was particularly devastating because it was relatively close to the earth’s surface—just 10 kilometres deep. اثر الزلزال المدمر بشكل خاص لانها كانت قريبة نسبيا من سطح الأرض - على مسافه 10 كيلومترات فقط العميق. Dale Rutstein from the UNICEF China organisation told the Scotsman : “I would expect the death toll to rise, as Sichuan is one of the most populated provinces and one of the poorest. دايل rutstein من الصين ومنظمة اليونيسيف وقال الاسكتلندي : "اتوقع ان حصيله القتلى في الارتفاع ، كما سيتشوان هى واحدة من المقاطعات الاكثر عددا للسكان واحدة من افقر. There are a lot of people living in marginal areas that are difficult to get to, and a lot of buildings in those areas are substandard and could collapse very quickly.” هناك الكثير من الناس الذين يعيشون فى المناطق الهامشيه التي من الصعب الحصول على ل، والكثير من المباني في تلك المناطق دون المستوى ويمكن ان ينهار بسرعة كبيرة. "
The present death toll includes just 15 deaths in Wenchuan county, right near the epicentre of the earthquake. هذا وتشمل حصيله القتلى 15 وفاة فقط في مقاطعة wenchuan ، بالقرب من حق المركز السطحي للزلزال. Its 110,000 residents have had minimal contact with the outside world as of early this morning. 110000 المقيمين في دورتها كان لها الحد الأدنى من الاتصال مع العالم الخارجي اعتبارا من وقت مبكر من صباح اليوم. In Beichuan county, which is also near the epicentre, 80 percent of buildings have reportedly collapsed, killing more than 7,000 people out of a population of 161,000. Roads and rail links as well as electricity and water supplies have been severed in the county. وصلات الطرق والسكك الحديديه فضلا عن امدادات الكهرباء والمياه انقطعت في البلاد. “We are in urgent need of tents, food, medicine and satellite communications equipment through air drop,” Wang declared. "نحن في حاجة ماسة الى الخيام والاغذيه والادوية ومعدات الاتصالات الساتليه من خلال الاسقاط الجوي ،" اعلن وانغ.
Wenchuan is home to a large population of Qiang and Tibetan minorities. Wenchuan هى موطن لعدد كبير من شيانغ التبت والاقليات. Although just 88 kilometres from the Sichuan provincial capital of Chengdu, parts of the county have been closed to foreign journalists since the eruption of anti-government protests in Tibet in March. ورغم أن 88 كيلومترا فقط من سيتشوان تشنغدو عاصمة المقاطعه ، واجزاء من المقاطعه تم اغلاق للصحفيين الاجانب منذ اندلاع الاحتجاجات المناهضه للحكومة في اذار / مارس فى التبت.
In the Juyuan township of Dujiangyan city, just south of the epicentre, a three-storey school building collapsed burying 900 students. Juyuan في بلدة dujiangyan المدينة ، الى الجنوب من بئره ، ثلاثة طوابق انهار مبنى المدرسة دفن 900 طالبا. As elsewhere in China, the middle school was very crowded with 18 classes and 50 students in each class. كما في اي مكان آخر في الصين ، وقد انشئت المدرسة المتوسطة 18 مزدحمه جدا الطبقات و50 طالبا في كل صف. The number of survivors is still not clear. عدد من الناجين ما زالت غير واضحة.
The London-based Times described the rescue scene: “Photographs posted on the Internet showed arms and torso sticking out of the rubble of the school as dozens of people scrabbled to free them. يوجد مقرها في لندن ووصف مرات الانقاذ المشهد : "الصور على شبكة الانترنت اظهر الاسلحة والجذع الذي يتمسك بها من انقاض المدرسة عشرات الاشخاص مخربش لاطلاق سراحهم. They used small winches or their bare hands to move concrete slabs. كانت الرافعات الصغيرة أو بايديهم العارية للتحرك الكتل ملموسة. Rescuers had pulled 50 bodies from the debris. وكان عمال الانقاذ سحب 50 جثة من الانقاض. Two girls said that they escaped because they had run faster than others.” فتاتان قالت انها هربت لانها استنفدت اسرع من غيرها. "
A hospital in Juyuan also collapsed, burying hundreds of people. مستشفى في juyuan انهارت ايضا ، ودفن مئات من الاشخاص. Another 420 students were trapped in school in Dujiangyan, and workers have rescued less than 100. آخر حوصر 420 طالبا في المدرسة في dujiangyan ، وعمال انقاذ اقل من 100. Chinese authorities have dispatched 50,000 troops and armed police to the area, both to carry out rescue operations and, as with other major disasters, to insure against any eruption of popular anger. وقد ارسلت السلطات الصينية 50000 المسلحه وقوات الشرطة الى المنطقة ، على حد سواء لاجراء عمليات الانقاذ و، كما مع غيرها من الكوارث الكبرى ، للتأمين ضد أي انفجار الغضب الشعبي. Heavy rains, damaged roads and landslides have been hampering rescue efforts. هطول الامطار الغزيره والانهيارات الارضيه والطرق المتضرره قد تعرقل جهود الانقاذ.
All electricity and communication within a radius of 80 kilometres from the epicentre appears to be down. جميع الكهرباء والاتصالات داخل داءره قطرها 80 كيلومترا من بئره ويبدو أن تراجع. According China Mobile, the quake knocked out more than 2,300 of its cell-phone towers. ووفقا الصين المتنقله ، knocked الزلزال اكثر من 2300 من أبراج الهاتف الخليوي. Fixed phone lines have been severely disrupted throughout Sichuan. خطوط الهاتف الثابتة حدثت اضطرابات شديدة فى جميع انحاء مقاطعة سيتشوان.
The provincial capital of Chengdu has a population of 12 million people. عاصمة المقاطعه تشنغدو يبلغ عدد سكانها 12 مليون نسمة. Although no significant damage has been reported in the city, at least 45 people died and 600 were injured. وبالرغم من عدم وقوع أي أضرار قد تم الابلاغ عنها في المدينة ، لا يقل عن 45 اشخاص مصرعهم واصيب 600. Many residents slept outside for fear of further aftershocks. ان كثيرين من سكان ينام خارج خوفا من مزيد من التوابع. In a text message to the Associated Press, an Israeli student Ronen Medzini described the chaos: “Traffic jams, no running water, power cuts, everyone sitting in the streets, patients evacuated from hospitals sitting outside and waiting.” في رسالة نصية الى وكالة اسوشيتد برس ، طالب اسرائيلي رونين medzini وصف الفوضى : "الاختناقات المروريه ، ولا مياه جارية ، وانقطاع التيار الكهربائي ، يجلس الجميع في الشوارع ، والمرضى الذين تم اجلاؤهم من يجلس خارج المستشفيات والانتظار".
In another major city of Chongqing, four students were killed and more than 100 injured when two primary schools were damaged. رئيسى آخر فى مدينة تشونغتشينغ ، واربعة طلاب قتلوا وجرح اكثر من 100 عندما مدرستين ابتدائيتين لحقت بها اضرار. To the northwest of the epicentre, two chemical plants in Shifang city collapsed, burying hundreds of people and causing more than 80 tonnes of corrosive ammonia to leak out. الى الشمال الغربي من بئره ، واثنين من مصانع المواد الكيمياءيه في مدينة shifang انهارت ، ودفن مئات الاشخاص وتسبب في اكثر من 80 طن من الأمونيا الى تسرب للفساد. Some 6,000 people had to be evacuated. 6.000 بعض الناس كان لا بد من اجلائهم. The latest reports indicate that thousands of workers were trapped after a steam turbine factory collapsed in Hanwang. اخر التقارير تشير الى ان الالاف من العمال حوصر بعد انهيار مصنع التوربينات البخاريه في hanwang.
The Chinese government has intervened rapidly to prevent the disaster become another source of popular discontent and international criticism. الحكومة الصينية قد تدخلت بسرعة لمنع الكارثة اصبحت مصدرا آخر من مصادر الاستياء الشعبي والانتقادات الدولية. Premier Wen Jiabao rushed to the scene almost immediately after the earthquake and the state media has provided extensive reporting. رئيس الوزراء وين جياباو هرعت الى مكان الحادث على الفور تقريبا بعد الزلزال وسائط الاعلام التابعة للدولة قد قدمت التقارير على نطاق واسع.
Outside the Juyuan Middle School, Wen bowed three times to show respect as bodies were pulled out from the rubble and urged rescue workers to make the utmost effort to save the children. خارج juyuan الاعداديه ، وين انحنى ثلاث مرات لاظهار الاحترام وكانت هيئات وكما سحبت من تحت الانقاض وعمال الانقاذ وحثت على بذل أقصى جهد لانقاذ الاطفال. “Not one minute can be wasted. "ليست دقيقة واحدة يمكن ان تضيع. One minute, one second could mean a child’s life,” he said. دقيقة واحدة ، ثانية واحدة يمكن أن تعني حياة الطفل ". Making a national appeal, he declared: “In a socialist country under the great leadership of our government, the people will unite and overcome all disasters.” جعل نداء وطني ، واعلن : "في بلد اشتراكى تحت القيادة العظيمة لحكومتنا ، وسوف توحد الشعب والتغلب على جميع الكوارث".

At home, the catastrophe has the potential to become another source of unrest. في الداخل ، والكارثة لديه القدرة على ان تصبح مصدرا آخر من مصادر عدم الاستقرار. Earlier this year, severe snowstorms disrupted power and transport and stranded millions of passengers leading to widespread anger over the government inept handling of the crisis. وفي وقت سابق من هذا العام ، والعواصف الثلجيه واضطراب شديد والنقل والطاقة وتقطعت الملايين من الركاب على نطاق واسع مما ادى الى غضب الحكومة على مدى الكفاءه في معالجة الأزمة.
Far being “socialist”, the Chinese Communist Party has transformed the country over the past three decades into a gigantic sweatshop for foreign capital. ويجري الان "الاشتراكي" ، الحزب الشيوعي الصيني قد حول البلاد على مدى العقود الثلاثة الماضية الى عملاق بأجور بخسة لرأس المال الاجنبي. The operation of the free market has led to a deepening gulf between rich and poor, fuelling discontent and anger towards the government, which is notorious for its corruption and callous indifference to the plight of the majority of the population. تشغيل السوق الحرة قد أدى الى تعميق الهوه بين الاغنياء والفقراء ، وتأجيج السخط والغضب تجاه الحكومة ، التي هي سيئة السمعه لوالفساد واللامبالاة القاسي لمحنة للغالبية العظمى من السكان.
The lack of government control over many economic sectors has significantly weakened its ability to coordinate disaster relief. عدم سيطره الحكومة على العديد من القطاعات الاقتصادية الى حد كبير الى اضعاف قدرته على تنسيق الاغاثه فى حالات الكوارث. Furthermore, while infrastructure for foreign investors is world class, transport, communications and other services in more backward provinces such as Sichuan is poor. وعلاوة على ذلك ، في حين ان البنية التحتية للمستثمرين الاجانب هي من الطراز العالمي ، والنقل والاتصالات وخدمات اخرى الى الوراء في اكثر المقاطعات مثل سيتشوان هو الفقراء.
Sichuan is located at the fringes of the Qinghai-Tibet plateau—a zone particularly prone to earthquakes. سيتشوان الواقعة على هامش من هضبة تشينغهاى - التبت منطقة وخاصة المعرضه للزلازل. It is already clear from the extensive damage, particularly in rural areas, that most buildings were not constructed to withstand tremors. ومن الواضح بالفعل من اضرار واسعة النطاق ، ولا سيما في المناطق الريفيه ، ان لم تكن معظم المباني التي شيدت على تحمل الهزات. The governments in the US, Europe and Japan have been quick to send pro forma condolences and offers of aid to China. الحكومات في الولايات المتحدة واوروبا واليابان ، قد سارعت الى ارسال التعازي شكلية ، وعروض المساعدة الى الصين. But there was no doubt a collective sign of relief in financial markets around the world that the catastrophe hit relatively isolated areas of China far from the economic powerhouses of the eastern seaboard where hundreds of billions of dollars of investment are at stake. ولكن ليس هناك شك علامة جماعيه الاغاثه في الاسواق المالية فى جميع انحاء العالم ان كارثه اصابت مناطق معزوله نسبيا من الصين بعيدة عن المجلس الاقتصادي powerhouses من الساحل الشرقي حيث مئات البلايين من الدولارات من الاستثمار هي على المحك.
