With the amount of media that exists in this century and how accessible it is, it is still a shock that people are willing to accept the views that are immediately presented to them. People no longer question if their news is accurate or if there’s any bias being presented by the general media or they go on with their lives blindly trusting their politicians and media to tell them events that are happening around the world, only to find out that the news was misinforming. I believe that now that there are ways a citizen can overcome any bias or censorship their country does that is now a duty of a citizen to be informed. Looking at different news sources to find out a different perspective of a news story will ensure that the individual is getting the most accurate news or is able to notice the bias of a specific news affiliate. But instead of forming a unique opinion, people have chosen to be lazy and just follow the belief that is popular or that of their political affiliation. The most amazing thing is how shocked people were when they found out when the news about Iraq not having any weapons of mass destruction when the United Nations had made the same conclusion many years before the American government admitted it. A solution is to confront the media and politicians that continue to present their version of the news and to call them out on their bias and how their lies actually damage the individual’s trust in the media to tell the truth no matter how ugly the reality may be.
