Hi Peter,

My comments are echoing the author of the article. Of course the withdrawal of membership of "Mayors for Peace" doesn't suggest that he is fully against peace. But where does beheading come into it? The main aims of Mayors for Peace is anti-nuclear weapons and war.

Concerning the supression of right to protest, I'd like to quote from the article where it says "During Bush’s recent visit, the anti-war movement was prevented from demonstrating in Whitehall — signalling unnecessary restrictions on our right to protest — and a number of protestors were on the receiving end of police brutality."

"Glad to see that the new mayor of my capital city doesn’t want peace or civil liberties"

What a stupid comment. By not joining an "anti public beheading" group, does that automatically mean he supports public beheadings? Of course not. And since when has he suppressed your right to protest?

Glad to see that the new mayor of my capital city doesn't want peace or civil liberties (right to protest, freedom of speech, etc).

I'm actually a bit shocked at what I've read (interesting article, thanks!) but I shouldn't be really! My more cynical side isn't that shocked.

Would like to know Mr Johnson's reasoning for pulling out of the "Mayors fo Peace".
