Thank you. As one of the arrestees I must say how scary it was. It was an early morning antiwar protest so we could all get to work on time. There were only @ 100 protesters there. There were many more police. And all of a sudden, there were police everywhere (we were told later there were hundreds waiting at nearby locations). They surrounded the entire legal, peaceful demonstration. We pleaded to leave, we had to go to work, some to college. They let the businesspeople swept up with us go. Tourists swept up with us who did not look wealthy enough they kept with us! Arrested the entire demonstration of us! Picture show they so vastly outnumbered us that they shut down the sidewalks and streets. This was a terrifying lesson to us that “protest and you will be made an example of.” Together we had the strength to work with our lawyers and demand our rights to protest & freedom of speech.
