Antiwar Activists Win $2 Million Settlement From New York City Antiwar الناشطين الفوز 2 مليون دولار الى تسوية من مدينة نيويورك
A group of 52 local activists today announced a $2 million settlement in their lawsuit against the City of New York. 52 مجموعة من الناشطين المحليين اعلن اليوم 2 مليون دولار الى تسوية في دعوى قضائية ضد مدينة نيويورك. The settlement in Kunstler et al v. “The New York Police Department violated core constitutional rights when it arrested a group of peaceful demonstrators who were lawfully protesting against the commencement of the Iraq war and those who stood to profit from it,” notes Sarah Netburn, attorney with Emery Celli Brinkerhoff Abady LLP, which handled the civil rights case along with the Center for Constitutional Rights. "ادارة شرطة نيويورك تنتهك الحقوق الدستورية الاساسية فيه انها القت القبض على مجموعة من المتظاهرين المسالمين من موجودين بصفة مشروعة احتجاجا على بدء الحرب فى العراق وتلك التي وقفت الى من الربح منه ،" سارة netburn تلاحظ ، مع النائب الحجر تشيلي brinkerhoff abady LLP ، الذي يتولى قضية الحقوق المدنيه جنبا الى جنب مع مركز الحقوق الدستورية. “We are gratified by the City’s decision to compensate these individuals whose targeted arrests were without probable cause and intended to quell future protest in New York City. "اننا نشعر بالارتياح قرار المدينة ، لتعويض هؤلاء الافراد التي استهدفت حملة الاعتقالات بدون سبب محتمل ويقصد بها فى المستقبل لقمع احتجاج في مدينة نيويورك. This lawsuit, and this settlement, vindicates our clients’ rights to assemble and speak their mind free from the fear that they will be punished for their views.” هذه الدعوى ، وهذه التسوية ، ويبرئ عملائنا الانسان الى التجمع والكلام على اعتبارها خالية من الخوف من ان يتم معاقبتهم على وجهة نظرهم ".

An NYPD videotape of the demonstration depicts a group of demonstrators lined along the sidewalk of West 56th Street between 5th and 6th Avenues – with ample space for pedestrians – who were arrested without any police warning or opportunity to leave.
