We had been on the road for hours, leaving the interstate and then digressing to smaller and smaller highways. نحن كان على الطريق لساعات ، وترك الطريق السريع ثم وحيد الى أصغر وأصغر الطرق السريعه. Differing vistas of the Colorado landscape got wilder and more vacant the further north we drove. مشاهدات مختلفة من كولورادو المناظر الطبيعيه حصلت اكثر وحشية واكثر الشاغره المزيد من الشمال نحن قطيع. With us on our journey were three Chilean men who had worked out here for anywhere from a year to three. معنا على رحلتنا كانت الشيلى الرجال الثلاثة الذين كانوا يعملون بها في اي مكان من هنا للسنة الى ثلاث. Brought straight from their native land on work Visas, they had been promised food, clothing, shelter and a good paycheck to herd sheep on some of the roughest landscape in the west. جلبت مباشرة من وطنهم على تأشيرات العمل ، فقد وعدت الغذاء والكساء والمأوى وطيبة صك الراتب الى قطيع من الاغنام على بعض من اخشن المناظر الطبيعيه في الغرب. We had originally expected to find the sheep camps worked by men from Peru, Chile and Ecuador, but the Colorado sheep ranchers had gone even further afield than expected to find workers to take advantage of, Nepal. كانت لدينا اصلا يتوقع منه ايجاد الاغنام المخيمات التي يعمل فيها الرجال من بيرو وشيلى واكوادور ، ولكن كولورادو الاغنام اصحاب المزارع بل ذهبوا أبعد مما كان متوقعا لايجاد العاملين على الاستفادة من ونيبال. Since sheep-herding is most likely the loneliest job within the continental United States, his happiness at visitors was almost overwhelming. منذ رعي الأغنام - هو على الارجح اكثر وحدة عمل داخل الولايات المتحدة القاريه ، في سعادته الزوار مثيرا للارتباك. Its window was covered by cardboard and his pantry held nothing but rice, canned beans, tomato sauce, green beans, and a few spices. اعماله نافذة تغطيها الكرتون وصاحب المخزن الذي عقد سوى الارز ، والفول المعلب ، صلصه الطماطم ، والفاصوليا الخضراء ، وعدد قليل من التوابل. He kept track of the months by watching the dates change on his carton of eggs. احتفظ المسار قبل اشهر من الفرجة على تغيير مواعيد له من كرتون البيض. Occasionally he could kill a sheep for food, but the only place to store the meat was in a cardboard box next to his bed. وقال انه في بعض الاحيان يمكن ان يقتل والاغنام للأغذية ، ولكن المكان الوحيد لتخزين اللحوم وكان في الكرتون المربع المقابل لسريره. The next couple of camps were in much the same shape, little tin trailers that should be condemned; mangy, ragged packs of dogs either starved for attention or cowering. القادمين من مخيمات كانت في الكثير من نفس الشكل ، والقليل تين المقطورات التي ينبغي ان تدان ؛ اجرب ، ragged حزم اما الكلاب المتعطشه للاهتمام او الانكماش. Horses standing with their asses to the wind, shivering in huddled crowds, gaunt ribs showing through their thick winter coats and smiling Nepali men who were simply joyous to have someone visiting besides an angry boss yelling at them. الخيول الداءمه مع لتقويم الريح ، والارتعاش في مكوم الحشود ، نحيف الاضلاع تظهر خلال فصل الشتاء المعاطف السميكه وتبتسم النيباليه الرجال الذين كانوا ببساطة الفرحه لشخص ما قد الزائرة الى جانب غاضب بوس الصراخ عليهم.

As we talked, the the true story of abuse and wage slavery came out. كما تحدثنا ، قصة حقيقية للتعاطي والاجور الرق خرج. These men had signed a contract in Nepal (They are in the US legally on a H2A work visa) to work eight hours a day, and when they landed in the US, the contracts were changed to 24 hours a day, 7 days a week with no vacations, ever. هؤلاء الرجال قد وقعت عقدا فى نيبال (وهم في الولايات المتحدة بصورة قانونيه على تاشيرة عمل H2A) الى العمل ثماني ساعات يوميا ، وعندما هبطت في الولايات المتحدة ، وكانت هذه العقود تغيرت الى 24 ساعة في اليوم ، 7 ايام في الاسبوع مع اي عطل ، من اي وقت مضى. One Nepali man who had been alone and isolated on the plains of Wyoming for three years told us, in broken English, how the last visitor he had was an uncle two years before. احد النيباليه الرجل الذي كان وحده معزوله عن سهول وايومنغ لمدة ثلاث سنوات أخبرنا ، في كسر الانجليزيه ، وكيفية الاخير كان الزائر هو عمها قبل عامين.
