Cia no autorizada para utilizar waterboarding

Procurador General de la República Michael de los E.E.U.U. que Mukasey dijo martes que el waterboarding no está autorizado actualmente para las interrogaciones de la Cia, pero dicho él no contestaría a preguntas del congreso sobre la legalidad de la técnica en general.

Mukasey, que es atestiguar ante el comité judicial del senado el miércoles, dijo que puesto que habían resumido al Procurador General de la República que se convertía el 9 de noviembre él en métodos de la agencia de inteligencia central en su programa actual de la interrogación.

“Un sistema limitado de métodos se autoriza actualmente para el uso en ese programa. I have been authorized to disclose publicly that waterboarding is not among those methods,” Mukasey wrote in a letter to committee head Senator Patrick Leahy.

“Accordingly, waterboarding is not, and may not be used in the current programme,” he said.

But Mukasey, under pressure since his nomination last year to declare waterboarding, which simulates drowning, as illegal torture in all cases, would not say whether it has been used in the past.

He also suggested there could be circumstances where it might be allowable, and added that he would not answer questions from the committee about technique’s legality under US law in the absence of any specific current needs and conditions to discuss it.
