Demands grow for windfall tax as fuel companies rake in record profits مطالب النمو المفاجءه لضريبة الوقود في سجل الشركات الخليع الارباح
Socialist Worker العمال الاشتراكي | “British economy grinds to a halt” cried the headlines last weekend. | "الاقتصاد البريطاني يطحن الى وقف" بكى العناوين الرئيسية فى نهاية الاسبوع الماضى. Charles Bean, the deputy governor of the Bank of England, said the current economic downturn could “drag on for some considerable time” – especially since there always seemed to be “another grenade” waiting to explode in the financial markets. تشارلز فول ، نائب حاكم بنك انكلترا ، وقال الانكماش الاقتصادي الحالي "يمكن ان تطول لبعض من الوقت" -- وخصوصا ان هناك دائما يبدو ان "قنبلة اخرى" في انتظار ان تنفجر في الاسواق المالية.

A recession will bring higher unemployment and further attempts by bosses to cut wages in order to maintain their profits. تأتي من الركود وارتفاع البطاله ومحاولات اخرى من جانب اصحاب الاجور الى قطع من اجل الحفاظ على ارباحهم. Meanwhile they are going full steam ahead with their own prices rises on everything from water to food to public transport. وفي الوقت نفسه انها ماضية قدما في البخار الكاملة الخاصة بها على ارتفاع اسعار كل شىء من الغذاء الى المياه والنقل العام.
Gas prices have doubled since 2000. اسعار الغاز قد تضاعف منذ عام 2000. Electricity has gone up by nearly two thirds over the same period. الكهرباء ارتفعت من قبل ما يقرب من ثلثي خلال نفس الفترة. Every week new figures show price rises that will hit working people and the poor the hardest. كل أسبوع جديد وتبين الارقام ان ارتفاع الأسعار سوف تصل الى الشعب العامل والفقراء اشد.
Around 80 Labour MPs have now signed a call for Gordon Brown to impose a windfall tax on the big energy and fuel companies. العمل نحو 80 نائبا قد وقعت حتى الآن دعوة لغوردون براون لفرض ضريبة على المفاجءه الكبرى وشركات الوقود والطاقة. That is the very least he should do. وهذا هو اقل ما يجب ان تفعله. These firms have been forcing up prices while still raking in huge profits. وهذه الشركات وقد تم اجبار الأسعار إلى الارتفاع في حين لا يزال الجمع الهائل في الارباح.
A recent poll showed that 70 percent of people believed their household economic wellbeing had got worse over the past year. مؤخرا واظهر الاستطلاع ان 70 ٪ من الشعب يعتقد رفاه اسرهم المعيشيه والاقتصادية قد تفاقمت خلال العام الماضي. Only 5 percent said things had got better. وقال 5 ٪ فقط حصلت على الامور بشكل افضل. Higher taxes on the corporations – including a windfall tax – would begin to redress this. ارتفاع الضرائب على الشركات -- بما فيها الضرائب غير منتظر -- ستبدأ لتصحيح هذا.
But there is little sign that Brown will take notice of the plea from his own party’s MPs. ولكن ليس هناك ما يشير الى ان براون سوف تتخذ اشعار الدفع من بلدة الطرف النواب. The fact is that Brown is too frightened of upsetting big business and their friends in the media. والحقيقة هي ان براون خاءفه جدا من الازعاج الاعمال التجارية الكبيرة وأصدقاؤهم في وسائل الاعلام. In every policy area he has stuck closely to the path mapped out by Tony Blair – even though this has led to a collapse in Labour’s support. في كل مجال من مجالات السياسة العامة وقال انه قد تمسك عن كثب على الطريق التي حددتها توني بلير -- حتى وان ادى ذلك الى انهيار في دعم العمل.
Brown may pay the price for his refusal to help those who elected him. براون قد دفع ثمن رفضه لمساعدة اولئك من انتخبوه. But we need to make sure it’s the big companies that pick up the bill – not the poorest and working people who are being expected to pay for this crisis. ولكن علينا ان نتأكد من انه الشركات الكبيرة ان اتناول مشروع القانون -- وليس افقر الناس والعمل يجري حاليا من المتوقع ان تدفع لهذه الازمة.
