Sunday, July 1st, 2007 Security official says Washington received warnings of possible terror attacks against airports in Scotland two weeks ago. US security officials received warnings two weeks ago of a possible terror attack against “airport infrastructure or aircraft” in Glasgow, a senior official told ABCNews.com on Saturday. The intelligence reports also warned that airports and aircraft in the Czech Republic would be the targets of attacks by al-Qaeda terrorists. An SUV laden with explosive materials went ablaze at Glasgow airport on Saturday after its two occupants, apparently al-Qaeda operatives, crashed it into entrance doors in the main terminal. The incident occurred a day after police in London defused two cars laden with gas canisters, gasoline and nails in two bustling areas in the capital. US officials told ABC that the warnings about a possible terror attack in Scotland were kept secret for operational reasons. US Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff said the US would not raise the level of alert because there was no specific intelligence pointing to imminent terror attacks in the US.
