US media subject to ‘gross’ Israel lobby

American investigative journalist Wayne Madsen criticizes the US corporate media for turning a blind eye to œIsrael™s gross interference” in US foreign policy especially its relentless lobbying campaign to derail nuclear talks with Iran.

œThe problem with the US corporate media covering Israel independently is that the media is subject to the same paper pressure from the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) and the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations and other pressure groups like that,” Madsen told Press TV on Saturday.

œSo what we are seeing is the media coming under the same type of pressure not to cover Israel™s gross interference in the internal affairs of the United States of America,” he added.

The media blackout on Israeli interference is accentuated by the fact that a large number of media personalities in the United States are pro-Israel, Madsen noted.

Iran and the six world powers – the US, France, Britain, Russia, China and Germany – began their latest round of talks on Wednesday. The talks were scheduled to end on Friday, but were extended into Saturday.

Senior Israeli officials including Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu have been hard at work in recent weeks trying to discredit Washington™s strategy with Tehran.

Multiple members of Congress are also taking their lead from the powerful Israel lobby, rebuffing the Obama administration™s call to hold off on new sanctions against Iran.

This is while a majority of the American public favors a negotiated settlement with Iran over its nuclear energy program.

The survey conducted by ABC News/Washington Post found out that 64 percent of respondents back a deal that will ease sanctions in exchange for Iran restricting its nuclear program.
