What can’t get lost in the controversy surrounding the tapes’ destruction is the underlying issue of our government’s use of abusive and unlawful interrogation techniques — including waterboarding. ما لا يمكن ان تضيع في الجدل حول الاشرطه 'الدمار هو الاساس الذي تقوم عليه هذه المساله من حكومتنا استخدام مسيءه وغير قانونيه اساليب الاستجواب -- بما waterboarding. The tapes are gone forever, but what must not disappear along with them is accountability for what they most surely would have revealed. الاشرطه ولت الى الابد ، ولكن ما يجب ان لا تختفي معهم المساءلة عن ما هو أكثر من المؤكد انها سوف كشفت.

Americans want to know the facts and the extent to which their government acted with brazen disregard for basic human rights. الامريكان يريدون ان يعرفوا الحقائق والمدى الذي حكومتهم تصرفت مع التجاهل الصارخ لحقوق الانسان الاساسية. Naming a special counsel would be a good and necessary start. تسمية محام خاص سيكون بداية جيدة وضروريه.
