UK teachers’ unions are planning to stage a strike action over pay, pensions and conditions.
Hundreds of British teachers are planning to stage a strike action over the British governmentâ„¢s policies on pay, pensions and conditions.
The National Union of Teachers (NUT) and the National Association of Schoolmasters Union of Women Teachers (NASUWT) said their members will start coordinated action in the North West of England at the end of this month as part of a long-running dispute with the UK government over working conditions.
Å“The move to strike action is a manifestation of the anger and frustration of teachers at the failure of the government to seek to address the deep concerns of the profession,” said NASUWT general secretary Chris Keates.
NUT general secretary Christine Blower also said the UK governmentâ„¢s proposed changes leave teachers with no other choice.
Recent studies revealed that morale among British teachers has declined dramatically as they do not trust the governmentâ„¢s education policies.
According to a survey by YouGov for NUT released on January, more than half of British teachers -about 55 percent- described their morale as low or very low.
